BOOTY LOOTER! by MrLeePerry

[raw]
made by MrLeePerry for LD 40 (COMPO)

Your fleet is destroyed! Your once great pirate ships are scattered around you. Salvage all the loot you can carry from the floating debris before it sinks!!!

One problem though... chests of gold are heavy shit! Turns out... the more you have, the worse it gets. Strange, that.

(Both PC and Mac versions available now!)

Nice job, the music sounded a bit odd but I liked the rest of it! Cool effect for the intro and the flips and "hup" sound from the pirate is very entertaining :)

Dude that was fantastic! Loved the simplicity - really great art. I love the 3D models as well as the water and the title screen. Overall just a fantastic entry.

Thanks so much, all!!! I really had a blast doing this one!

I knew the goofy humor wouldn't be to everyone's taste, but I giggled :)

Now, need to find some time to go review a load of other games!

I will be mumbling that shanty for the rest of the day!!! The game is really fun and the graphics are fantastic. Loved that water effect!

So, the water is just 3 separate disc meshes, each a little lower than the next... big round subdivided sheets, with some jitter on it, then smoothed... and they all spin slowly in different directions. I only got to the water in the last HOUR of work, and nearly panicked at how to pull it off easily.

Then I made like 2 big scattered debris meshes with a solid dark color on them, a shark and hammerhead, and just attached them to the lower most disk. The motion of the sharks is TOTALLY nonsensical, hahahhaa, like they're caught in some ridiculous underwater vortex or something.

Oh god, this was fantastic. The song was brilliantly written (even if it was improv!), the little sfx were great, and the gameplay was solid! This is really a fantastic entry! You should be super proud of this one, really great job!

Nicely polished game, quite fun. Not sure I got a sense of it getting harder the more you carried though.

Pretty good. Graphics are nice, gameplay is fun, and audio is funny.
My one complaint is that the camera rotation makes it sometimes difficult to figure out which direction you should press. Also at one point I had no way to jump on the next board and was forced to sink.

Ah, so good! The idea is so simple but you pulled it off with flying colors. The animation was all super smooth, the controls intuitive, and the audio... oh, the audio. #1 for audio in my opinion. Super glad I played this.

One of the best games i played. Music is great and catchy. Very tight controls. I really liked the effect of the moving planks, floating and sinking, my record is 14!

This game was really fun to play, the overall is pretty good for a one man job! Just the music was a bit annoying at some point, but help on making the player stressed in a clever way. Nice one!

And it just kept piling on and on and on...

Very tight controls, appealing visuals and funny sounds, this is a fantastic compo entry. Looks incredibly dynamic because of the camera movements and how the floating woods comes and goes. The game is very fast paced, easy to understand, and overall, a great joy to play. I did experience a bit of motion sickness, but that's besides the point.

My one complaint is that, at times, the camera movements were a bit too extreme, which at times rotated the field almost 90 degrees. So, for moments, I thought that the controllers were also going to be remapped in a clockwise or counterclockwise fashion. It was never the case, but my mind was kind of wired and prepared for that. Lost a few times because of that.

Still, a great compo entry. Congratulations. [My team and I](twitter.com/whalesandgames) are looking forward to playing more of your entries in the future. Cheers, matey! :whale:

Love the idea of this game, we did something similar with the stacking of the items collected with people saved by hero, but i think yours actually looks cooler by not being able to see the character

The planks moving and sinking worked great. really enjoyed playing this game. Great work

Simple, but fun and very exciting game! One-legged, one-eyed, armless pirate and dashing song create a unique atmosphere. Well done!
