DOS: Defense of Script by diremonsta

[raw]
made by diremonsta for LD 41 (JAM)

A Text Based Tower Defense Game. Fearsome CUBES are attacking and your job is to defend your own.. cube.. with turrets as long as you can!

It was my first time attending a game jam and I wanted to learn some Unity, making prototypes quickly and finishing things and also game development in general. Considering those, it was a success, I'd say! Also, hopefully little by little I can focus more on game design, visual side and content after getting hang of basic development things.

Commands:

build xy - Builds a turret in xy coordinates

upgrade xy - Upgrades turret in xy coordinates

shoot xy - Shoots in xy coordinate with the main cannon

money - Check your credits

exit - Go back to main menu

I like the concept! It’s really hard in the beginning, especially if you mistype as much as I do😅.

right....so froze on me once, wouldn't start the waves on another. I like the commands wish I could use up arrow for last command typed but can get over that I also feel it would be more user friendly for the typing to be below instead of to the side. I like the upgrades look different the graphics fit the style, music and sound effects where spot on. not bad.

Nice, well done.

I found some bugs though. Many times I had to close the game in order to play again, the command exit wasn't working or I couldn't press the start game button. You could implement the upper and down keys to scroll through recent commands, just like DOS does. It's good that I could use copy and paste in order to make things faster though.

I found it hard at the beginning to find a way to survive. But after I upgraded my first turret, it was easy. Unfortunately the game crashed, I guess because there were too many things going on and I had turrets all around the path.

There are places in the map that don't make sense because placing a turret there won't make it possible for it to shoot.

You could also accepted 3C and C3 as coordinates. ;)
