Cyborg Apocalipse by VirtualAcademy
We are proud to share our first game with you .
Controls :
W,A,S,D to move
"E" to pick rocks ; "Q" to place them
Story : You are Bob. In the year 2303 the robots took over the planet. You are a human transformed in a robot by them. They thought we will never realise that they wanted to take over the planet. They were WRONG. They are dumb so there's a chance of them falling when they step over rocks. You can take small rocks from the ground using the "E" key and place them using "Q". You can also trap them in the cage near my spawnpoin. Sadly you are still a robot and you need power. If you get close to the robots they will try to drain your power, but if you kill them they will drop batteries. Save the humanity, but don't worry about the robots are really dumb so they will follow you.

Music is nice, The graphics individually look good, but they clash a bit together. Overall nice work and congrats on building a game :)
I played this on stream at https://www.twitch.tv/videos/163569305 - timestamp 00:20:17
Ok, now talking about the game, the art is really nice, I like how the robots and the main character looks. But it was a little hard at first to know how to beat the robots, because I threw the rock and they don't fall with it... so I had to run in circles around the rock and in a random moment, they died. You can't predict if they will die when they pass over it or if they approach for some angle.
I also missed a "victory" or "next level" screen, because it looks a little abrupt when you start the next level, and there was that big badass robot that I surrounded with rocks and he just passed over them and over me xD
But it is a nice concept, with a really good art and good music and sound FX. I hope you can fix those things that I mentioned because it is a nice game.
Really good work, team :)
While the source of the in-game graphics is obvious to anyone who've followed Unity tutorials, I quite liked that you didn't use the assets "as-is", and tweaked them to be more theme-appropriate. You could have used pre-made buttons as well, but you made your own, and I liked that you made them look like batteries.
I also like how the difficulty ramps up. The game would definitely benefit for Stage transitions, though.
Overall it's quite a solid entry, and it's amazing that it was made by such a young group of people.
I was making stuff at that age, sure, but with way simpler tools. Something like Unity, Fruity Loops or Photoshop would've been like rocket science to me.
Congratulations, hope to see more games for you all in a future!
The graphics are derivatives (not sure about the robot, care to elaborate?) of Unity tutorial graphics, which is technically fine in the jam. The problem is they are not very good derivatives. The environment tiles are straight up ripoffs, while the main character simply has an added robotic eye patch. You did disable the ratings for graphics though, so ah, why am I complaining about it again?
It works, just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. You should have gone with something even simpler. The tried and true formula: Man has gun, man shoots robots, robot uprising foiled; is yet to fail any dev, honest guv.
There are a few spelling mistakes in the intro.
I gotta say the falling over rocks mechanic never really works reliably for me, sometimes they just trip for no reason.. (but the intro said they were dumb robots so that part is kinda neat)
The textures are a bit muddy, and the big robot is just scaled. You could maaybe make an enemy sprite really large next time, and downscale it for the smaller enemies.
The music is an odd mixture of edm and a choir, it doesn't really work out.
Awesome for that time. Nice Job

The main character seemed familiar, then I realized he was from a unity tutorial. I like how you edited his face, just a simple touch made him feel robotic and blend well with the game concept. However, the enemy robot sprite didn't mix well with the other assets since it was high res compared to the pixel art style used by the other assets.
Overall, good game and good job :D
Well done on original game idea and music
I wish there were "Exit" button on the main menu
