Cute game but I did not see the link with the theme (maybe it is because ice and fire ? That is not respond to the theme I think) ... Anyway, that is quite well executed and the princple is interesting.

Moreover, don't worry guys, your game will show up with the time, it is quite useless to do advertisment on other game pages ^^'

Very simple and great concept! Two things, when you control the ice guy and use his power, you inadvertently use the fire guy's power as well. And the controls are a bit weird, but that's all the major critisim I have, great job!

Great game with amazing graphics and audio work. You guys make a good team. I have only two quite minor points for improvement. First, if one character jumps on the head of the other, and then you switch and move, the first character stays floating in the air. Second, the walk animation seems a little like the character glides across the ground. This is something that you would likely fix over time. The game overall worked well and looked and sounded great.

This is a really great game! I just don't feel like it fits with the theme very much. The graphics are excellent, and the game creates a nice, happy mood. The game was really fun. Also, the audio was better than what I can do, although it seemed kind of monotonous after a while. Also, I think that it would be nice if you could access the controls from ingame. All in all, nice job! I think this could become something big.

It took me 5 minutes to figure out that the "->/<-" key was Tab. But other than that, the only real issue is that, although it merges opposing forces, it doesn't merge incompatible themes.

Love the characters! Great visual design overall. Only thing that threw me just a bit was the camera angle vs the movement direction.
Feel like we've seen games like this in 2d but not many in 3d so I'd be interested to see what you can do.

This is extremely beautiful looking, I love the character designs and mystery and potential for a story. The sound was really well done as well. I wished there was more focus on the puzzles and gameplay, even if it was only one scene instead of a few-- it kind of felt like I didn't make it out of the tutorial by the time I got to the end, and I was bummed that there wasn't a payoff. This does seem like a forward looking project though, I hope y'all stick with it. Nice work!

24. Apr 2018 · 00:47 UTC
As many have already noted, the art style is on point! The background music is pretty good too, although the sound effects definitely leave something to be desired. My biggest criticism would have to be the controls, which had me switching from mouse in the UI, to keyboard for the game, and then to controller when I couldn't figure out that the double arrow symbol meant 'Tab'. But pausing using a controller doesn't work, and once I pressed escape on the keyboard I had to use the mouse to click "Back to Menu". All in all though, not a bad start!
mao
24. Apr 2018 · 00:48 UTC
Okay finished! The art style is certainly the games's strong point. However, some other stuff - especially the character and camera animations - felt awkward by comparison. It also feels a little weird to simultaneously tug along multiple characters, since they lag behind each other. I suggest looking to Thomas Was Alone for inspiration on this front: tight level designs, adding shortcuts as progress is made, and giving every character a chance to use their abilities. The keyboard controls were a little awkward as well, with the right hand going unused while the left works overtime.

Judging by the "Coming soon" end card, you probably intend to expand and improve this game in the future. I wish you the best of luck, you have a very promising start!

I'm really enjoying the visual style here. While it's not immediately obvious what should be going on (perhaps the Sparky could have some kind of more immediate visual cue as to what he's doing, even when he's not actually setting something on fire?), but there's a really solid base for an interesting game here. Good work!

Is it just me of the song for the main screen sounds a lot like keyboard cat but slowed down :P. either way, really ambitious game it looks really pretty, love the art the characters are really cute, my only gripe is the controls, they seems a bit floaty and could use a bit of tweaking, also, the fire dude could have some particles or something when using his power so you can tell that something is suppose to happen with him when you press the button, initially i thought it may be broken but once i got next to a flammable object i was able to tell was was up :P, also it would be good to know what's flammable and what isn't, like i assumed wood and grass would burn, but not all wood does, so i guess that's something that could use a bit of tweaking as well Keep up the hard work :D.

Love the art style! I did get stuck at a point and didn't know where to continue after I burned down the fence. I liked there was a visual clue for the blue guy when pressing 'f', but it wasn't to apparent what I could do with that power. At first I thought it was used to jump over the first obstacle (but I think I was using a glitch). I didn't even know the fire guy could use 'f' because when I pressed it for him, there was no visual clue. After awhile I figured out he could burn things. Great entry!

Let's start with the good stuff. I really like the art style and music. UI is pretty, snappy and minimalistic which is exactly how I like it. Gameplay is fun! The game feels like something I would've played the living hell out of on PlayStation 2 (camera work is reminiscent of the games from that era which for some might be a negative but I like it).

As for the less good stuff, the controls aren't super intuitive. I think one of the ways this could be improved is by giving "Sparky" some ability animation even when he doesn't have anything to burn. Otherwise, if a player tests the switch (Tab) key first and then the ability key (F) he might conclude that the F key doesn't work. The game could really use one more level and like other users pointed out before me it doesn't really follow the theme very closely (you have two opposites in form of character abilities but not the genres).

Oh, and I managed to found one bug. Going back to the main menu using pause menu causes pause menu and main menu music to play at the same time.

In short, Reverse is a fun and pretty game with some minor flaws. I'm a fan! Good job guys.

Well, I can't see the theme here anywhere. The movement it's weird, the graphics are great, the music is a bit annoying and the puzzles, aren't puzzles, you just need height. It's a shame it's that unfinished I'm not really sure about the core mechanics.

That was fantastic! The artstyle was incredible, the music and mood were well made. One of my favourites, really. Really beautiful and peaceful game. I have only one thing. The game is really polished and fun to play. So far my favorite entry. Keep up the good work!

I'd add 2 things:
- Single player - second character follows player
- Add Multi player - add a multiplayer mode, where second player can control the second character with controller or such!
honey
24. Apr 2018 · 11:13 UTC
Everything was already written, I think. It's beautiful and can be even more given a bit more polish. But the gameplay isn't much fun when you have to run twice the same long and uninteresting way. Also the camera is bit awkward and so are animations, but I guess that happens in game jams and is pointed out just because the beautiful graphics of yours promised something of much higher production quality.

On sidenote - I thought it was a local coop game until I realized how to switch between players. If you consider that as an opportunity and try to rethink level design and point of view (or at least camera manipulation), it would make a great and beautiful local coop I would definitely play with my gf ;)

Question: What are the two genres you combined? I don't get it. Besides that, this is an impressive game! The art is dang good for 3D, and the puzzles are cool and interesting. However, the audio is a little lacking, the character controls are floaty and often unresponsive, and the game could use a little more of a victory than "Coming soon." Other than that, great job!

Graphics are great and the audio is well designed. The controls and camera are a bit off for me and I found it a bit of a challenge, plus you can't switch quickly and have to stop completely before so. A great concept and would be good to see if you consider going forward with it. Also please stop spamming on other peoples projects with the same comment, if shows that you are more than likely not playing them, and if the allegation in another comment here about you rating their game all 1 for no reason is true, then that is atrocious. Yes you made a game for the jam and well done and we all want our game to get featured and rated well, but if it's true that you are doing what people say you are it is disrespectful and it discredits their work and all the time they put into it, a shame to see people trying to get a high a rating as possible to the point where they disregard others work.

I think the art on this page is very impressive, but unfortunately I didn't enjoy the game.

The puzzles are uninteresting and the game doesn't seem to fit the theme at all. I appreciate the idea of switching between two characters, but it just makes the game feel so slow to play because you have to move both characters to progress. Overall the game feels unprofessional and more like a tech demo than a completed product.![oops3.PNG](///raw/37e/31/z/13ab3.png)

Nice!!! Well polished for a jam, i would really appreaciate more shortcuts to easily handle both of them, maybe a shortcut to handle them simultaneously instead of insanely toggling.
Even if by attempt i found that "space bar" would make me jump, you could also did the same you did before with the toggle shortcut and "power" shortcut.

The only thing that bugged me is that sometimes you have to walk quite far in between two places of interest, which is extremely tedious when you have to do it again with the other character a few seconds later. But I like the idea, could grow into quite a fun little puzzle platformer with a bit more work on it. Really digged the art.
Overall - good entry :)

really cool game! i love the art so much! the puzzles are ok though i really love the gameplay- it took me a while to figure out how to get the the other stage through the door so maybe it'd be better if it was a bit more obvious? i walked both characters into in but i think didn't press a button and was very confused.. otherwise its really rad!

Wow, incredible polish and design, although I had my little things that were a tad out of place. I've seen a few games (outside of game jams) that implement the use of switching between two unique characters, and in my opinion this game pulled it off pretty well! Although, the simple puzzles seemed to be a detriment to the overall "fun" factor of the game.

Besides that, the graphics were beautiful and overall had decent polish.

Well done!

Short, but sweet! the 3D models, audio, and overall graphics are phenomenal, especially for a Ludum Dare game!

It seems you guys are just spamming to try and game the system, are you even rating other people's games properly, or just giving dummy replies? This makes our community look really bad.

I like the game. One tip is that when the first camera snaps to the next view ensure your character is visible, otherwise it is disorienting.

Definitively above what most people here are able to do in 72 hours graphically. It's obviously quality over quantity in terms of content but it shows a lot of promise.

Great game and graphics!! I like the low poly style and use of colours you used. I thought it would have more than one level. Check out my game if you have time, it may give you some ideas to use physics in your game ;) https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/alien-sports

Solid little game.

**Positive**
- I love the graphics and the design
- It's very polished
- The controls and the camera are great!

**Negative**
- Don't fits the theme
- The music is a little bit annoying
- Sometimes the ways to walk are to long. I wished i could sprint or have more to do in the world.

As people have already stated, this was a really ambitious game. However, you pulled it off really well! The art style was great, obviously well mastered and optimized (Kudos to the artist). The controls are intuitive and easy to master, making the experience much more natural. There are a couple minor gripes that I do have, the first of which is the theme. I'm not sure what two game genres you were trying to combine, but the site has described it as a "blank slate filler" so I don't think it's that big of an issue. Also, the same loop of music is repeated for extended periods of time, making sort of autonomous and repetitive. In essence, this game has a huge amount of potential in addition to the sheer quality you have shown thus far. I would love to see some extensions and developments.

Great Job!

As others have said, I do think the art direction is your strongest asset. Also as other have said, I think the link to the theme is a bit tenuous. There looks like there's a fair amount of potential with the gameplay, though it needs to be explored with longer, more complex levels and puzzles. Hopefully you guys choose to pursue this beyond this jam - I think you have a cute and potentially quite fun winner on your hands.

An ambitous game for a jam. Good job on finishing a playable version on time. The 3D models where really nice. I didn't get where the theme was lying at tho.

If you plan to really release the game, considering it's scope, it needs some polishing on the controls, they are not bad as it stands, but feel a bit clunky. The audio could use some overhauling too, the SFX isn't super believable and the music gets repetitive quite fast. More the particle effects and animations would be cool too.
I think the gameplay could be more fun as a coop split screen game, or maybe a faster paste solo.

Overall good game but if you're serious about shipping it then it's still needs a good amount of work.

I quite like the interpretation of the theme "fire and ice" and the simple puzzle mechanics, but the snail like pacing of the game along with floaty controls and slow character movement killed it for me. Lovely aesthetic and it was cool to hear different music for each area, but for me, this was too much content not enough quality.

Hey guys, I love the style of your game! I just didn't find a use for the ice guy, as anything in the first level could be solved by fire and i couldn't unlock more levels. The controls feel a bit off as well, but nothing too big, seems like there's just a bit of polishing needed. All in all I really enjoyed your game, so keep up the good work!

Great game. The graphics are very pretty and the minimalist sounds and music fit very well into the atmosphere. Putting the controls in the panels into play is a very good idea.
However, I find that the camera is positioned too down in relation to the character and the environment. This creates visual frustration and makes me feel a little confined to the screen. And it would be necessary to make a visual feedback when the character presses the button, one does not understand what that changes in the level.

Very good work

Loved the aesthetics and the idea! Got a bit bored because the mechanics felt a bit forced and the design in general wasnt the best. Good work anyway!

Really loved the art style. Didn't really like the fact that the arms were just outstretched. Wasn't really sure when switching characters was necessary since I could basically glitch my way over obstacles with the ice character. Was also able to break the game by jumping out of the map. Didn't really see any theme connection. Seems like a good basis for a game, just needs some work.

My props to the 3D artist, although this game needs a lot of polish, I could even beat the game without using the TAB feature. Also it doesn't fit the theme very well, I don't see the two incompatible genres.

A very nicely done game.
The music and the setting create a harmonious atmosphere.
The two characters are beautifully designed.

It's possible with Fröözy, like in the NES game Solstice to make a air block jump and I found that really cool.

Graphics are really clean! I like the camera transition when you swap between the two characters. The level design and gameplay itself could use work, but I imagine this is only the start of the project. I look forward to what you have in store!

I enjoyed the graphics of this game and the cute characters. I had no clue what the switch characters button was. Even though I have a gaming computer and that symbol is there, I feel like normally it is referred to as tab. Knowing it was tab instead of the symbols would've saved me some frustration in the beginning. It felt tedious that each time I switched characters, I had to re-walk the level. It would be nice to have the characters follow one another. Good game though.
