A broken game about Life, Guns and Ascii ...

Play the unholy mix between a top down shooter and a story driven game with IBM compliant graphics.

Features state of the art graphics, meaningful choices, random generation, 30 seconds of music, about 4 different guns, rewind time mechanics and tons of screen shake.

Remember, each of your actions will have consequences ...

I love that graphical style, but also the music! Also, the game concept was personal.

Interesting concept, and it brings me the memories the 90s. There rewind mechanic was probably tricky to implement. I think there is some problem with the audio, it seems to stacking after restart.

@TomekS Thanks ! It looks like the audio stacking bug comes from Game maker that doesn't stop audio when restarting the game on the HTML5 target.

'Use esdf to move' I like your attitude, who needs that crappy wasd stuff am I right? but on a rela note, this is a good submission. I like it better than my own XD

@Pixels Everywhere : no everyone has a QWERTY layout and having to shift might be tedious

Had a lot of fun there, the Nuclear Throne-style shooting is very well reproduced. I wish the game would become harder or feature more enemy types after some time. The music also sounded like Sans boss fight in Undertale to me, which helped me think about the meaningful consequences of my horrible shooting actions. Poor b's, you will be remembered forever

@zoglu You are correct ! The music is a mashup between the themes of Doom's First level and the Sans's boss fight. Thanks for the feedback !

Really great. I really like the attitude of the game. Reminds of Undertale, LIS and Cave Story (all great games)
btw is there an end?

@spthiel Thanks ! Unfortunately, I didn't have time to add more than one randomly generated level, so the games loops once you reach the end teleporter.

This style *works*! Had a flashback to playing Dwarf Fortress. Loved the little messages from the enemies, good job

It's fun, but it's sad there's only one kind of level. If you do more, I'll happily play it again!

the music really fit your game!
So b are not going to do anything special to me?
Or am I not killing enough b? 🤣

Nice work! I liked the ASCII art style a lot, and the gameplay's fun as well. The music was great, and fit the game well! The rewind mechanic was interesting, but I think the level design prevented it from being used in a lot of interesting ways. Otherwise, I had a lot of fun with your game. Great job!

If you die, the music doubles up.

Solid idea, basically a three-joke game but they're good jokes so it gets a pass. You could certainly squeeze some Undertale references etc in if you wanted!

First game I see that uses ESDF and not non-portable WASD. good job on that.
I found the "story driven" part to be set back (and that you don't have time to read text when there are gazillions of B abound you). Yet, it's a nice Nuclear Throne demake.

pros: excellent graphics and solid gameplay! Also enjoyed the humor =)

cons: nothing that i can think of

All in all, one of the best entries I've played (so far). =)

Great music, and a satisfying feel to the guns... if only I wasn't running out of ammo all over the place! I also would have liked more gameplay impact from either the "text-based" or "story" parts of the idea. But I did play for quite a while, so you definitely did something right...

Super fun, the controls are great. Killed so many b's. b will not archieve his goals for sure.

0/10 not enough hurricanes...in all seriousness though, this was great. The rewind mechanic was really nice and the gameplay and music were both great. I wish it were a bit more difficult, but I suppose even if it were I think I'd probably just rewind every time I screwed up. Really nice overall though!

I'm not very good at this kind of game, but I held on to my last 1 hp for a remarkably long time . . . . (maybe a bug? if so a bug that made my afternoon!)

I sense strong Toby Fox vibes here, heh. Really great music and gameplay duality. I was a pacifist long enough for b to find cure for cancer.

Very nice game ! I like the shooting and the weapons feel right. The rewind power was not very useful as the game did not get harder. Also I run out of ammo very often, so having ammo pack to pickup without killing b's would have been good, instead of rushing to the teleporter. The art and music is perfect for the game. I just miss a final boss where every b's killed would come back to kill you as a consequence.

Man your entry is so good!

It feels great, it's funny, the AI is credible, there's even a few weapons...

The only thing I could say is the lack of ammo, and the fact you can basically run through the level right to the exit. I guess it's a way to end the game with ammo, at least.

One of my fav entries of LD41 right now <3
