Head Spin Builder - Sacrifice Edition! by meursault

[raw]
made by meursault for LD 43 (COMPO)

The next entry in the famous Head Spin series brings you an epic adventure of building and sustaining a society: Head Spin Builder - Sacrifice Edition!

The problem? The Head Spinners believe in the Spinning God and it demands a daily spinning sacrifice! Because their heads are the only thing spinning in this world, they are sacrificing themselves. And they love it!

Your job is to keep the society of Head Spinners running, eventhough every two ingame days one Head Spinner must be sacrificed.

The games are short and have no end state - except losing. When you figure out how to keep the society running, there will no be additional challenge.

I'm looking forward to your feedback :-)

How To Play

  • Move Camera: WASD, Arrow Keys or clicking middle or right mouse button.
  • Camera Zoom: Mouse Wheel, or Q and E.
  • Select and Build: Left Mouse Click. Unselect: Right Mouse Click.
  • Build resource extraction buildings to automatically harvest wood, stone and food. But the resources are finite!
  • Every Head Spinner consumes one food at the end of the day. Don't let them starve!
  • Building Reproduction Caves will create a new Head Spinner. But they are expensive and take long.
  • Build homes to accommodate more Head Spinners.
  • Every two days the Almighty Spinning God demands sacrifice. And the Head Spinners love it! You select the chosen one. Keep in mind that you will lose a Head Spinner every two days.
  • You lose when all your Head Spinners are dead or sacrificed. The goal is to keep going as long as possible.
  • Harder Difficulty starts you with less resources.

Technical Things

The game is built with Monogame, to run it you need to download and install the latest .Net Framework Runtime.

You can play the game on linux. Simply download the windows build and execute the .exe with the Mono Runtime. The linux build contains a Mono Runtime and is therefore so much bigger.

The assets are created with PyxelEdit, ChipTone, Bosca Ceoil.

You can easily adjust the resolution and fullscreen settings in the Content/config.xml file.

or download the linux build that contains the runtime. Start

Nicely done, but I found that the game lacked strategy and quickly become repetitive ...

Pretty fun game although it does get repetitive after a while.
Still it is a solid entry.

@slizzben units eat one food every day. When you don't have enough food at the end of a day, units will die.

Really nice game.

Even it's not so challenging, the idea is cool and well implemented, bravo!

(I just found 2 bugs: House increase population possibilities before construction, and I got some Head Spin stuck here:![bug.png](///raw/b75/z/1cc69.png) )

This game was honestly like being in a fever dream. The concept along with the music just terrific, it was my own personal silent hill.

Loved every moment.

Very interesting game, good graphics and sound, also is fun to play. Sometimes the game is kinda confusing though :D

Survived until day 30-something, then the game crashed upon sacrificing an idle headspinner XD (max pop 11, houses for 10). Too bad nothing regrows, but okay, that wouldn't have helped with the crash either.
A very interesting concept^^

@zugai89 Sorry for that, the task/ai system seems very buggy after some time :anguished:

This game is so much fun. My head spinners were doing great until my saw mills ran out of wood and then I ran out wood so I was unable to build any saw mills so they all died :( rip
