Blockland: A Tower-Defense Platformer.

The Story

On the two-dimensional planet Block, the Blockies lived in peace.

One day, the apocalypse broke out, and zombies started roaming the land.

As the last Blocky alive, you need to protect the world's last tower from collapsing. If you die, you lose. If the tower collapses, you lose. How long will you survive?

How To Play

Movement - WASD

Shooting - Hold Left Click/Left Ctrl.

Pressing Buttons - Left Click.

Placing A "Building" (After buying it from the shop) - Enter.

The game is REALLY difficult. Don't beat yourself up over it. However, with enough belief and skill you might be able to survive for pretty long!

This definitely feels like dungeon defenders in 2d, i like it. The interface is very nice and simple, i like how the upgrade buttons are on the towers themselves. The music is well-made, but I'm not sure if it fits the mood. You can also push into enemies to stop them (not sure if this is intentional). Overall this game has great potential, just slap on some assets and its 2d dungeon defenders.

I saw the initial graphics and didn't think much of this entry, but played five games in a row after downloading it because I was having fun, so that just shows what I know about first impressions!

Fits the theme, nice music, didn't crash. Overall, solid entry.

I enjoyed playing your game. I wasn't very good, but still it wasn't to frustrating. There a lot of good ideas and i think it can develop into a really good tower defense game.

Despite the graphics, the gameplay are awesome! It would be also nice to add some kind of minimap or just some simple zoom-out button because sometimes it's hard to get info about the enemies location or tower HP, especially when you are on the other side of the map. I enjoyed the game, good job!

Fun little game. I enjoyed the simplicity of it. Difficulty ramped it very quickly with the oncoming enemies becoming tougher and more of them. Good job

Got to wave 6 on my last try!

I liked the game, but didn't see where the platformer aspect really comes in. None of the enemies I saw used the hovering platforms, everyone went along the ground. I liked the simplicity of the game, but would have liked to been able to use more tactics for each wave

Good idea, but as @besmundu said, I didn't understood how to embrace the platformer side. Strategizing on the ground seemed to be the only way. I didn't get far though, maybe you introduced it later ?

I totally see room for a great gameplay though, like starting with very large waves of slow-paced zombies on ground which do little damage to the main tower but a lot to the player, forcing to use platforms as a high ground and firing down (defensive towers may fire down too), then gradually introduce ennemies breaking this pattern, walking on the platforms to attack the tower and, lastly, juming around the platforms to attack the player itself.

Would love to see new versions of it anyway, congratulations !

Interesting game but I think it could be a lot better if it had a bit more thorough graphics and colour choices. Check out mine and please rate. I like feedback https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/platscii

Great idea with the turrets and having the tower in the center. I like it. The problem is that you have virtually no idea of enemies that are not on the screen, if there was some indication that enemies are coming from this side, or the other, it would make the game a lot easier. Yes, I am bad at this game :D Great work though, the upgrades seem cool although I placed a turret on a platform and it betrayed me, didn't do a thing to stop the enemies and my tower died under the attack of one green block :D
