Cook while riding your perpetually hungry hippogriff, on the Death Road to McGamkedonald's!!!

DeathMcGamkedonalds.gif

A combination of top-down racer, cooking/pong game. You are working on a limited fuel and you need to get to the finish line. With every acceleration, you lose fuel and only way to fill it is by cooking food through a pong game. Be careful not to cook your food for too long, it will burn! And consuming it will decrease fuel!

A team effort, by Team Gamkedo Parrots!

How to play:

Racing mode

W and S to move

A and D to rotate

Collect ingredients to be cooked and consumed later

Moving will consume fuel! Therefore, you need to go into...

Kitchen/Cooking/Pong mode

Press SPACE to enter into pong mode

Q to launch collected meatball (lol), E to launch collected vegeball

A and D to move paddle

To feed food, win against the enemy paddle and let the ball fly into your Hippogriff's stomach!

Do not feed burnt food! (Notice the color changes) Burnt food will hurt your fuel bar!

Feeding raw (unfinished cook) food will increase a little fuel, feeding properly cooked food (notice the color changes) will increase even more fuel!

To discard burnt food, either play till the food ball disintegrated, or let the enemy paddle win (let the food slide off)

I enjoyed this game. It was really unique. At first I was a bit confused with the controls, but was able to get a bit further with each play through. I like the fueling your vehicle. I think adding other NPC "racers" would make it feel more like a race instead of a driving game. I did like playing pong and cooking the food. I was confused on how to feed the griffin. By the time the food was cooked the NPC was good at hitting the food and making me lose the food. There were times when I launched the food that the food went straight past my pong bar. Otherwise, I had fun. This really tied in well with the theme. Good Game!

@khofez by pressing Q, you'll start cooking some meat, or pressing E, you'll start cooking some vegetable.

@BalladofSong thank you!!!

Hi @khofez, I've updated the description to fit how to play, although you can also read "Help" in the menu :)
@BalladofSong Thank you!! We actually have an enemy racer, but unfortunately ran out of time to put him in :)

Fun graphics, I feel like I will be saying "interesting idea" for all the entries based on this theme. It did take me a couple of tries before I figured out what was going on. I don't think I am very good at it though :(

I have no idea how cooking + racer is able to exist but wow, somehow this worked! Awesome job. :D Had quite a bit of fun playing this.

That was definitely an unusual combination, good job. The pong minigame has a slight weirdness in that you can win it 100% if the time by starting out in the center right of the cutting board and not moving.

@jfraser314 Haha, it is a great theme, isn't it? :D
@gegy1000 Thank you! :D
@Vovin One of our Gamkedo members mentioned something about that! Unfortunately we ran out of time to fix everything ^^; Thank you for mentioning though!

Hi! What difference between meat and vegetables? Different time for cooking? Music could be better. IMHO it should be different for racing and cooking. interesting idea overall

@Alex13 Thanks for playing our game!! Regarding that, the original idea was to have the hippogriff crave for different types of food at different times, either meat, plant or mixed. Then you have to feed it the matching type.

Also, @loim said, "Meat cooks faster but doesn’t fill as much, veg takes long but the perfection fills the bar completely but the burnt takes away from the fuel bar. The meat ball doesn’t take away at all. It really isn’t explained anywhere in the game, I suppose something you are suppose to discover over many plays."

But alas, we are a team of people across several timezones working on the same project. Everyone did a great job and they did their best but we ran out of time to implement a bunch of things in the original design (and I barely did anything for the team because my JavaScript skills are just plain bad, so it was greatly my fault too for the game to miss out plenty of stuff).

Sorry if my previous post looked rude. It is only my bad English. I wanted to say that racing needs more relaxing music but cooking could be nervous as is.

@Alex13 Great idea!!

Don't worry about being rude (you weren't), feedback like this can only drive us to improve. Keep them coming, criticize our game! Roast it! Don't worry about being harsh. We actually love it!!

What an interesting mix of genres! Controls are a bit clunky at start but after a few games it gets easier.

It feels a little like two separate games rather than a *combination* of two genres. The food you pick up enters into the pong game, but that's where the gameplay crossover seems to end? I would've liked to have seen more back-and-forth between the two games. I also got stuck on geometry all the time, without visually touching it, and it required full backing-up to get out of it again.

The art looks pretty good, and the music sets a good amped-up atmosphere.

I was having some trouble understanding what I was supposed to do. I like how you combined the two different play styles, just wish the gameplay was a bit more clear as to what I was supposed to do before I died. Great job!

Game certainly has an unique mix of genres!
Probably my main complain would be the fuel going down to fast, it makes the riding/driving bits last way too short.

This is a very interesting game! I kinda got stuck around in the driving mode because of the odd colliders on the rocks and the unforgiving controls. The music and the artstyle are actually pretty good so keep up the good work!
