I'm getting a null pointer exception when trying to run this game on windows. Hopefully this information helps you in some way (not sure if this is due to version of JRE used or something else):
```
Was really looking forward to playing your game since it looks visually attractive. I'll check back later to see if the problem is fixed.
@cvetk0 I updated the JAR file. If that doesn't work, it might be a graphics driver problem! According to my research, it's a problem with NVIDIA's latest graphics drivers. See these references: http://www.badlogicgames.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=25706
It's funny. At the end I lost all my towers and I needed to run to gather resources trying to build some towers to win xDD
Great work.
This goes from seeming like it's going to be a breeze once you build your fortress to hectic desperation of running around trying to collect resources to build more stuff! It got super fun towards the end.
I will sadly say I was unable to win, I couldn't find a good configuration of buildings that would hold out long enough for me to survive.
I will also say you need to find a better way to represent lumber - it took me 2 tries of playing to find where to harvest it from!
It was fun though, despite the lumber thing, I like it!
@ethereal-psyche-games Thanks!
@Burgee Yeah, you will have high hopes since you have 2 minutes to prepare but after that it will change. Haha! About the lumber, doesn't it look a forest? Thanks btw!
Loved it. Don't agree with @burgee .... lumber was very intuitive and easy to find for me. After a couple of times playing I discovered that I needed to stay on each resource 30 seconds (1:30). The last 30 seconds was to build 6 stone towers and 6 archer towers with a ammo building in the middle. In fact .... I discovered you could continue harvesting resources and building at the same time. so in the end It got kinda easy. There was no "You win!" or "You Lose!" feedback so I just assume you win by getting to the end of the 1 minute countdown (when retry appears). I also would show to the player how much it costs to build something (like I managed to do on my game). Overall great job and very fun game!
Hey, just to clarify, it looks like I have some sort of graphics bug which is why I couldn't find the trees:
![LDbug.png](///raw/ffa/4/z/3ea0.png)
Could be because I own that exact same tileset, but I don't know. This explains why I had issues and others like @Mordokay aren't though.
@Mordokay There's a tooltip when you hover over the buildings in the UI, it shows you how much you need. There's a "You win!" feedback when timer is at 0 and all enemies are gone. @Burgee Where the heck did that come from, I don't have those assets. Lol
It's a tileset I own for a project i was working on a while back, and for some reason they appeared in your game. That's why I couldn't find the trees - lol!
Weird bug, mine must have the same file name as your graphics or something.
I think some of the UI elements are not working correctly in linux as I never saw the tooltips for costs or anything. Despite all this I still found the game a fun spin on a tower defense. It could deifnitely use some music or sound effects though.
@bentglasstube I don't have a linux to test it but that is noted and thanks btw!
Huh, took me quite some time to get back and try this game and yes, with updated jar it works! I like the concept of resource gathering and mixing it with tower defense style game. I wish there was more content because I think it has good potential and could provide quite some fun if there was more enemy types and more waves of enemies. But considering you did all of this by yourself I think it's quite an achievement to get all this together in three days. Hopefully you'll extend it some more post jam and maybe add some sounds and music to enhance the mood. :smiley:
Keep up the good work! :thumbsup:
@cvetk0 Thanks! But I'm going to say that I did not do this alone, my friend did the art for me. He just didn't have an account here in ldjam. I don't know how I wasted a lot of time on low level stuff (like collisions, etc). Had I used a game engine I would have been able to focus on the content and gameplay aspects. Glad to hear to liked the concept of resource gathering and tower defense combined. Because of that, I might make a new game based on it!
I love it! This king of economic strategy works great with being in control of an individual that cannot be evrywhere at all time!
Hey I'm usually not a fan of these types of games but this one was actually rather fun and pretty well done before a LD game. A couple of bugs and unpolished things here and there but overall pretty good! :D
Game was quite easy and there were some balance issues. Building the weaker towers seemed like a waste of time since the preparation period was long enough to build all the required cannon towers to hold out til the end. The fact that the enemies always got to fire back before dying to the cannons rubbed my inner perfectionist the wrong way. I would have liked to build an impregnable defense line, but I suppose that is just personal preference; I like to power trip in games.
The combination of resource gathering and tower defense is very appealing to me. I enjoyed it.
I really enjoyed the graphics ! I won my first game, by only placing towers and one ammo supplier, but the tower can be destroyed very fast. Gathering resources takes more time than playing, maybe adding some automatic resource gathering building should be great if you aim to create a post mortem version with a lot more difficulties.
Pretty cool! I love the sprites. I would have liked a bit more variety in the stuff you get attacked with, it was rather easy to spam the bigger towers and some ammo and just let it run.
The graphics were really great. I think in it's current form it's a bit too simple to stockpile what you need to outlast the wave. It feels like a solid tutorial level for a bigger game. I think you could definitely keep deving on this and add more complexity to make it a really entertaining experience. Also, adding some audio would go a long way towards making it feel like a more robust experience.
