"I did it! I escaped the rot, and pain, and fire! And this air! Oh this air! ... feels so... stale. Where the... damn... bureaucracy."

You managed to escape hell and you find yourself back in limbo.

But Heaven only has a limited amount of spaces left. You will have to steal the required paperwork from some poor souls and condemn them to eternal solitude if you are to ever get to Heaven.

INSTALLATION:

Download the Windows or Source Code and run the "Godot.exe" file.

The game should launch as long as the Godot.exe file is within the same folder.

To view the source code, open Godot.exe from outside the same folder and use the game engine.

CONTROLS:

WASD - Move around Tab - Open your inventory Q - Inspect your documents E - Steal documents Space - Close menus F - Interact

Also works with an Xbox/Playstation controller.

For personal evaluation: PROSS: - Completion within 3 days for a 1st attempt at Ludum Dare - Reached my personal goals: programming a small game focused on the mechanic with no consideration for polish

CONS: - Didn't schedule any time for polish - I overshot the scope, which initially comprised: - Multiple levels - Procedurally generated identities - Procedurally generated documents for these identities - Procedurally generated fake documents for these identities - Procedurally generated forms, required to be filled with bits of information obtained on the documents - Procedurally generated interviews, that clerks go through to make sure the player has handed the right documents, with the right forms and that the player remembers who he's pretending to be. - Procedurally generated "Heavens" with different rulesets (Such as only Coal Miners are allowed in) - The architecture still has possibly problematic remnants from the initial scope. - The current architecture doesn't allow the designer to craft levels from within the engine. The ghosts and clerks' identities cannot be crafted by hand. - Not much of a game: it's not fun, long-enough or emotion-inspiring.

The idea is cool, but I can't play the game. I stole some document, gave it to one guy with a beard, and everything is blocked. I have some errors in the debug window if it can help you.![Capture.PNG](///raw/477/91/z/196bf.png)

Had a very very hard time running it tho, godot requires specific OpenGL and stuff installed so you may wor on distribution form.

Thanks for the comments! I'll have a look at it when I polish the game :)
I was aware of that bug, but didn't manage to fix it in time. :(
