Sea Wars: Piratefront by Ogniok

[raw]
made by Ogniok for LD 40 (JAM)

GameLogo.png

Sail the seas as a pirate with only one thing in mind - lootboxes! Collect as much of them as possible, but be aware that the more you have the easier they fall off board. Of course to get them you need to attack other ships. And remember - your crew needs to be paid every day for their hard work!

Game made only in 48 hours because we joined late. ;)

For a start, this is a hella polished game for even a jam game, massive well done to your team. The graphic style is on point, controls are really irksome, in a good way, because that's how ships should handle.

I started to question how it related to the theme, then I learnt the hard way when 2 precious boxes full of prime loot took a dive, those poor sods, but not soon after I collided with another ship... Perhaps the first fallen boxes were the lucky ones!

Overall I really enjoyed playing this entry, solid art, mechanics, music & theme adherence, great job!

Amazing work here, couldn't make it to day 2 but had good fun with it ! :)

This game is really fun! I like that the name is a pun and how well you managed to fit the theme. It is really hard to keep the boxes in the boats though! When I had like 11 they all flew out (I think it's because they took up to much space (?) ) 9/10

Definitely a great game you guys created. If you do continue development of this game after the Jam, I really wish there would be a multiplayer.

The game is simply great. It looks beautiful, the controls are realistic, soundtrack and sound fx fit perfectly, its fun to play..etc. I have to admit that i couldn't get past day 2 (i was 20 seconds off and crashed into another ship hahaha) but the experience was so great it made me enjoy replaying day 1 over and over ~~because i suck~~

Congratulations team!

Phenomenal! I absolutely loved the game mechanics and idea behind this, it all ties together nicely and is fun to play. The only thing I didn't like was that crashing into a ship instantly lost you the game, and that I'd have to start from the (rather boring) day 1 again.

Nice LD Game! Congratulations!

I think that this game may arrive to become a great one if you work in it!

I would like to see this game on steam. Really good job guys!

Can someone please give these pirates some rope! Amazing graphics, great sound, very fun game. Funny coincidence you made a game about pirates dropping treasure into the sea and I made a game about retrieving treasure from underwater caves .

First of all, wow! those graphics! I enjoyed this game very much, although I am not convince at boxes physics in the boat. Sometimes they would fly away without any change of the ship direction. Other than that hats off to the devs!

Great game! Love the mechanics! I really felt inside a pirate ship. Just one thing confused me: I was about 6 lootboxes on the end of the day but in the final screen said I collected 22.

Super polished game! I love the graphics, the idea, the music, the animations, it all combines to make a super game! I found myself trying over and over again. My perhaps only critique is a very minor nitpick, in that having a lot of lootboxes doesn't seem to make things very much worse. I would've expected the ship to run or turn noticable slower, but I didn't feel very handicapped. It was simply a bit difficult (and out of my control, mostly) to keep the lootboxes on the ship.

I found that the best tactic was to simply destroy ships within a limited radius and not care about the loot. That, about 30 seconds before the end of the day, start picking up all that loot drifting in the sea :)

Hey guys, for everyone curious - this is the concept of our map that we used. Obviously :D ![flat-earth-1.jpg](///raw/8c7/1/z/c31e.jpg)

Thanks for all the feedback guys!

@moionese The final screen shows loot score (we see now that the text can be misleading) which is calculated by adding loot required to pay your crew that day plus any additional loot times five

So far one of the best games I've rated. great music and graphics although lootboxes physics may seem a little buggy sometimes and you can easily win by just picking them up from wrecks made by ai's colliding with one another.

Most fun game I've ever played in a jam. Would definitely play if there was a multiplayer mode, just the right amount of fun and frustrating.

That's a very polished game for 48h development, congratulations to you and your team! Shooting mechanics are great and the game is fun to play. As others mentioned this would be even more awesome with multiplayer!

Good:
- The game is really pretty,
- The music and sounds is good
- the gameplay is overall fun.

What could have been better:
- I would have liked a some more control over the cannons. It is difficult to hit the enemy ships
- The player ship gets destroyed much to easy.
- I don't like that the lootboxes fall so ease of my ship.

Overall very well made LD game. Well done.

I have to say this is quite a polished result for a game jam, really well done!
Graphics are awesome, music & sfx nice too.
The boat controls & physics are really nice, shouting on target is very whallenging, rewarding & satisfaying.

The downpoint would be it's a bit repetitive imo, but hey, 48h and you dropped that. A huge congrats!

I love the Pirate thematic ! you made a great job!
I think you could make the boat goes faster for a better gamplay experience.
Still a fantastic game !

wow, this is such an amazing game for a jam. Love that art and just when you start to question how it fits the theme it smacks you in the face for thinking that, which is exactly the point of this theme! well done to you.

definitely one i am playing again later

very fun and challenging game. it was pretty hard to keep the boxes on the boat which i felt was like a little minigame in of itself just trying to keep the boxes onboard

Really impressive for 48 hours. I kind of wish the turning radius was a little tighter, but I suppose that's part of the challenge. Difficult and fun overall!

Czesc! Your game is really good. I loved the mechanics, the shooting felt solid. The graphics are totally adequate. Music + sounds = totally cool. Moar lootboxez for everyone! :)
