Sorry for the music. Sounds were the last thing we were adding to the game. Something like in last 15 minutes of the jam. So there you have it. Hopefully we'll do better next time.
Lesson learned.
There's an end to the game. Just go for it :)
As for your question, the idea is You have to be extremely lucky to get away with all the stolen goods. Sacrificing cash and gold is what makes your escape possible.
The song stolen from audio jungle could have been replaced tho D:
Therefore we opted out to be judged in sound category.
It was put as a placeholder in the last 15 minutes of the jam. Not sure if we can change the music after submission. It's not exactly a bug.
We don't mind buying the song for the game but left it as it is for the goodwill and fairplay of the Ludum Dare.
Controls a bit wonky, but servicable.
Nice mafia motif, I'm missing the relation to the theme though.
First level has an end. The thing is we didn't have enough time (well you know :) to polish the balance of the game. So it does take a bit of luck and a lot of patience to get through the first level.
Since the voting is still on we are not making any changes to balance.
It will be balanced better after the voting is finished. We do have plans to work on the game once Ludum Dare is over so feel free to follow us.
We will definetely work on the game and release it on PC.
We will also try to release it on consoles.
However we are not sure about mobile. Something needs consideration.
Amazing visuals and very fun game
I found the actual core mechanic a bit confusing though - it was hard to tell when I was doing good or doing bad, and hard to know when/why I should throw money away.
Because there was so much going on I just focused on what the screen was yelling at me: "low on fuel!", so I started looking for fuel. If it stopped yelling, I stopped ever thinking about fuel.
Perhaps it could be improved by introducing actions one at a time, and building them up? First it's just "dodge things", then you get the gun to "shoot things", and then you realize you're in trouble if you don't "sacrifice things" - if each one was taught by the levels then I think it would make the goals clearer.
Anyyyway - that's just some "constructive criticism" because - like every other comment here - my primary reaction was "holy shit, this is amazing!"
Hi Mateus.
Thank you for the feedback.
We tried our best to make everything as good as we could in time. Unfrotunatelly time was going against us. Well actually it was going against everybody else. You know :)
So yes, it ended up being quite hard. It will be balanced and polished later on. After the voting is over.
Actually we are already working on the game already and will update it once the voting perion is over.
We really look forward to update the game and get rid off those nasty bugs.
No way man. Keep on doing the great things. There should be more ideas, games and people doing it.
Thank you guys. Visuals are really something we were lucky to polish at full speed.
There is still a lot of room for improvement in other part of the game. We had so much in mind and so little time.
We will continue to work on the project once the voting is over so you are most welcome to follow the game.
Also we had in mind doing some post mortem on our entry. Hopefully it will be of some interest to see the evolution of the game from day one until the final.
Hi. Thank you very much for your feedback.
It is really import for us to get as much feedback and different opinions on the game as we can.
Since we plan to continue improving the game we really appreciate your saying.
You're right.
Mechanics should be introduced to the game at a slower pace.
Bit by bit.
It does get a bit confusing to understand what is going on here with the current version.
We had so much ideas we wanted to show and much more unfinished and left out of the game.
Our lesson is learnt. We will update the game and work more on game balance and mechanics.
Thank you once again.
The graphics are beautiful, and the mood is perfect for the game. Nice job!
TBH, I could only get a bit further than the spike strips after a few tries so I couldn't actually tell how much more content was after that. I totally feel you on not having time to balance and polish the level progression. Our game ran into the same issue, and a last minute bug prevented players from noticing there is actually distinct level progression over time, and players were wondering if the game had just stalled out.
I thought your game was excellent and had some really clever takes on the genre. I'm curious to hear what the other levels contain but alas I can't seem to get to them.
The controls could have been a bit tighter, but overall a stunning entry. Well done!
We had some hard times for sure but so is anyone else in here.
The most important that we do have plan on the game after LD is over. So we will be updating the content and polish the levels.
Too bad we didn't make the WEB version on the date of release.
It was our first time experience but then we figured out it is much better and easier for other people to play the game online.
Controls seemed to be logical for us during the development process. After the feedback we realised it can be done in a bit different way. Definetely something to work on.
It was really hard since it was the first time for us. We did a lot of mistakes but more important we've received a lot of experience during these 3 days.
The bullets are nearly ignorable. Give them more visual feedback, maybe a bolder streak for the flight path and definitely a bigger impact animation to show where it hit.
The steering feels weird. The car just slides around instead of feeling like it's really gripping the road. This is just a graphical thing; the play control itself is just fine.
EDIT: Wait, this is your first time? In that case, this is super impressive. Good job!
@unidaystudio Thank you. We've tried really hard to make everything in time and as good as possible.
@coda-highland Thanks for the feedback. There is definetelly room for improvement.
This was our first time doing any jams at all. We decided to give it a go and try if we can make it.
To be honest we haven't even released a single game yet. One of the reasons to take part in this LD was to finally make a game that can be released.Since there was a deadline we couldn't move further we had to try our best.
There's no shame in having room for improvement in a jam game. You took exactly the right attitude: do the best you can in the time available and focus on getting the important stuff done first. Polish is for day three if you have time left over after finishing the game mechanics. The feedback is if you want to move forward with it post-jam like a lot of people do. Some Ludum Dare games have gone on to see publication on consoles.
As for the audio we bought it properly but couldn't add it to the game according to the rules. Since it is not something we made ou our own we have opter out from voting in audio.
