Edgy Fantasy Battle Deluxe by Shess
"I mean, if your flashy magic attack causes a flood, or a landslide, or a forest fire, whatever, sooner or later it will become pretty uncomfortable to stay in one place".

Story: your party is level 99 now. Long gone are the days when fireballs and ice arrows were your deadliest magic. Now, you are capable of summoning grand avalanches and meteor showers, volcanic eruptions and earth-splitting quakes. Time for the showdown!
One more boss fight, and we're done here, no need to hold back. Besides, all those cataclysmic effects are, like, abstract representations of your power level and don't actually happen, right?
It would be very, very inconvenient if they did.
Oh wait—

- Manage a group of trusted friends whose bonding happened off-screen!
- Defeat the evil sorceress who doesn't even know why she's here!
- Unleash your arsenal of crazy Limit Break tier spells!
- ...and try not to run out of tiles to cast them.
- Play in browser!
Controls: on empty space, left-click and drag to rotate the camera, right-click and drag to adjust the view, mouse wheel to zoom.
After you character's action gauge fills, pick attack to damage the boss directly, or guard from an upcoming strike. Your epic magic is your main source of power, but the spells need to be cast on certain tiles, corrupting or destroying them in the process.

When I click NewGame nothing happens, but an error is getting displayed in console
(resolved)
Well done, nice entry !!
Changes:
* Fixed cubemap breaking WebGL2 incompatible devices (linux)
* Fixed healing/fire effects.
* Changed default volume to 50%.
The lesson here is, folks: talk to each other, it's better for the environment.
PS: UI's not scaling on retina displays, I think that's a bug.
That's some nice character art and dialogues.
Didn't know what i was doing half of the time but enjoyed it anyways!
Pretty funny dialogue! :)
Short game though, only one fight
Besides this, the art style is lovely, music brings you back to the super epic boss battles of the classics from the genre, and everything in general seems super polished.
And last but not least, the narrative is wacky and subverts some of JRPG's cliches with some welcome absurdity. Well done!
This is one of the best jam games I've played so far, congratulations!!
About difficulty, well, we made our previous game a bit too hard, so this time we focused on providing an overall lighthearted experience. This didn't stop some players, streamers included, from losing halfway, huh.
Well, I'm fine either way: and here I thought my "condition: defeat" dialogues would never be seen by anyone :D
The premise is good, the graphics are superb, the music worked well, top notch presentation overall.
The writing deserves a special mention for being A-class B-grade stuff.
The gameplay though didn't really live up to the premise :( I really would have liked to see more interesting interplay in the way the terrain worked, if the players had to run around on them, for example. And I wasn't really sure if there was much interplay besides forests turning into fire tiles after use. Which seems pretty arbitrary, especially since there wasn't much else I saw in that vein.
There needs to be that full screen button for the web build, I had trouble fitting everything into my screen.
But a solid display of your powers :) Well done :)
