Night Shift by lootgrounds

[raw]
made by lootgrounds for LD 42 (JAM)

Being a surveillance officer is hard. Your duty is to monitor security cameras and report emergencies. As it usually is, looking at the screens soon gets tedious because nothing really happens when you stare at them.

Thank god you have internet and other little things to idle away. But remember to check cameras sometimes, this is the job you're paid for after all.

Hope you guys find it funny, entertaining or annoying. All is good.

Interesting idea! The graphics are great and the audio sets the mood well. It's definitely a good basis for a night shift simulator. Would be nice to see more events happening. I don't really see the theme incorporated at all though. I hope you expand on it after the jam it could be really cool!

I think I got it. A very polished presentation, and the constant ticking of the clock kinda works in the settings.
Keep at it!

You absolutely nailed the atmosphere of this game, with some polish and more content this is probably the best title I've played of the Jam yet.

Was pretty laggy on my low end laptop at my night shift (not checking cameras, only support phone) Will test it at home tomorrow!

Nice atmosphere, and I like the freedom to check emails and navigate the screen. Like you've said in other comments, the issue just becomes lack of content (which is understandable for a jam). If I had more reason to look away from the screen, and more events happened, then it would motivate players to hang in there longer. Even just adding some small game options to the desktop would be neat. I loved the spam popups too, those could be their own mechanic.

Nice work!

The atmosphere of this game was really great - the low lighting, ticking clock, and tight setting were all really nice touches. The writing, where it did come in, was also really cool - from the bit on a poster, to the emails. If you get the chance to add more content in these forms (and maybe more like others said), that would be great.

Unfortunately on my laptop I couldn't interact with anything outside of the computer screen (unless I was not supposed to, in which case it was fine!); I could see flashes coming up on the screen in certain rooms but was unsure how to do anything about them. I'm curious to know more about how you guys came up with the idea against the theme, and look forward to seeing more if you guys update it!

Great atmosphere, liked the pop ups, that was a long time ago by now. would have been nice with something to fiddle with on the desk, ex a fidget spinner or Newton's cradle.

I really enjoyed the visuals of this, and I like the work-a-day schlub style games where weird things happen.

@ana we're super excited you enjoyed our little experience. There's no really anything to interact outside the monitor screen except the two things. When there's red light on one or more of the cameras you need to report it to dispatcher by pressing main line button on intercom. You'll have a small dialog with the dispatche. When all cameras display red lights and you manage to report it on time then you'll have a good ending, sort of.

Thank you for playing!

@thatsommes sorry it didn't work out for you, it was our first experience in 3d and we had no time or more importantly skills to optimize it. We'd sppreciate if you give it another try sometime.

I really wanted this game to carry on, you should flesh this out with a longer story and release it. I was really impressed with the visuals and UI design. Mood gets a 5 from me - it was fantastic

The graphics are really good and everything about this game feels cool. You did a great job making the player really feel like they were a surveillance officer sitting there on their night shift. Well done! I would love to play a more finished version of this with a more in-depth story and more things occurring.

Great atmosphere, and very realistic nightshift simulation :D
I like the narrative you start here, but I'm not sure if I was stuck or if there was no more content the second time my boss told me I was an idiot by mail.
Not sure if there are events happening on the monitor screen because I definitely didn't have the patience to keep on looking for long.

Also, what does it have to do with the theme?

Loved the presentation and overall visual quality. The interactions, events and sound set the right mood but I think more events and a wider range of actions would help this project a lot. You're on the right direction, but I would work on the goals and actions presentation a bit more :)

This a very polished game and it's just a beauty to look at. Though I don't see how it connects with the theme, but besides that I found it really enjoyable. Good job
