But the game is acutally pretty fun.
Good job!
I enjoyed the music a lot, and it was visually appealing, and I thought the pixel art fit well with the low poly world. Unfortunately I do have to point out that I couldn't understand the final picture at the end, I have no idea what it was portraying. The story (with the name of the character, or was it all just a dream, etc?) was also something I didn't exactly understand.
I'm also curious, is there any way to lose? I only played it through once and I found it interesting that there was no chance of actually having to face the consequences for the fake IDs, or possibly being deported back or something. I was almost hoping to fail at some point! Other than that, I do think it was well made for a small game with a big meaning.
I agree with @cttfow that the game could have been more interesting if there were consequences or risks involved (such as for forging IDs, or selecting a new name when moving). As is, the gameplay is pretty linear and predictable, which doesn't reflect the reality of the topic you are presenting.
But I was not bothered by waiting while earning money -- it was not terribly long to wait, and it gave me time to reflect on the game's message, as well as try to learn which countries were which
Nicely done! Thank you for sharing.
Was really nice, thanks for developing this game
I was expecting a plot twist in the end, namely Ethan is actually not the country of freedom at all, that's just what it's pretending to be... But I guess that would have been a little too pessimistic.
The waiting was okay, it wasn't overly long just to add length to the game. What could have made the game a little less linear was to include special events, like it's more difficult to go to some countries (there's a wall) and you need extra things equipement, or to have found a group of people like you, or events where your forgery doesn't work... etc... You probably don't like those ideas, I just tried to imagine ways of breaking the monotony. :P
Anyway, great job!
- special events or some other kinds of actions
- a way to lose the game
It attempts to give a message, for some part it definitely gives it out, but the lack of negative impact make it surely seem like a dream.
