(Not So) Secluded Tower by studdert249

My first Ludum Dare game and because of life and this weak mortal shell not quite as complete as I would have liked, but here it is anyway:

(Not So) Secluded Tower:

Can't a mage just work in seclusion? One would thing that a tower seemingly in the middle of nowhere, but this world seems infested with Angry Mobs, Priest and those Salesmen peddling their 'Elixir of Youth' or 'Snake Juice' or some other.

Casting spells seems to only bring more of them and I am growing quite annoyed with this entire situation, maybe it is time to find another Secluded Tower to continue my work in.

Controls:

Left Click and drag to cast spells
Right Click to redraw spell cards*

Made With:

Unity
Inkscape
BFXR

* Card number is small enough (3 items) that this button seems almost pointless

Can this be packed into one zip file on dropbox? Too time consuming downloading all the files individually.

Awesome humor on top of a solid concept! I would love to have heard some annoying chirping noises from the neighbors and maybe some background music. Overall I enjoyed the game, excellent work!

Pretty funny game, the art was nice too. Would have been nice to have a bit more variety in the effects of spells, but still a nice concept. Solid game overall.

Pro:
+ Graphics are nice
+ Fun concept
Con:
- There could be more variety (but that would demand much more time)
- Having to drag and drop spells didn't feel very smooth

Great job!

Can't tell if there's much of a strategy. Also hard to keep an eye on the mana. If managed perfectly, will mana actually replenish quickly enough to keep up with all the annoying neighbors, or is it inevitable that eventually the mage won't be able to cast enough spells to get rid of 'em? Having a way to speed up mana regen would be welcome, even if only temporarily; especially if it involved some skill to accomplish.

Thank you everyone for the kind and constructive feedback it reinforces my internal 'conflict', perhaps a little strong a word but there you have it, about my attempted scope for the project which caused a lack of variety

@Andy Gainey, little light on the strategy side, more of a how many can you get rid of before being overwhelmed, (I feel there should be a pun here referencing the previous paragraph), mana regenerates at a set rate but I feel your idea of a boost would be a welcome addition to the game if I ever decide to revisit it

I have the idea that with a few simple game elements more this could have been a lot better. Nice litte game though! I was wondering why the wizard is facing the other direction..

@Simonaiso, I feel the exact same way in all honesty. And the wizard is facing the opposite way as these people are disturbing him at home, selling their snake oils and preaching their religion, when all he wants to do are wizard things.

The buttons reacted weirdly to mouse clicks... Nice graphics but why is the wizard facing the opposite direction? :)

Pretty funny idea. The cards' text was blurry and I couldn't read what their effects were, thus I was a little confused about how the cards worked. Other than that, it was pretty enjoyable.
