@potatuetata I'm really sorry, I'm still a beginner (: It should be fixed now, can you play it?

@game-mon now i can play it. My highscore is 15 objects. it was fun and i really liked the idea of picking a object that doesnt have value to him. So you had to look what objects doesnt have value to him and sacrifice them first, then sacrifice other objects which is isnt too mad about getting thrown away

Solid entry! Not going to lie, I tried to drop Archibald off the balloon toward the end. Not your intended solution, it would seem.

Graphics and music were minimalistic, but got the job done.

@jeremy-ryan How could you do such a thing ?! We all love Archibald! (don't you?) In fact, it was an idea that I've thought of, but it was complicated, because you accidently grabbed Archibald while trying to grab an object in front of him, so it got annoying haha x) Thanks for the feedback!

Everything is so bouncy! That bassline sound is so 16-bit Sega too - love it. "A really basic apple" made me lol (how can an apple be basic?!). Even a custom app icon! All very nice stuff. Feels like a complete game! Highly rated!

My only gripe is that the objects are all very small in relation to everything else e.g. the balloon and health UI - it took a bit of focusing to play and my eyes felt a bit of strain afterwards. (I was playing fullscreen.) A few small adjustments and it's golden. Great work!
🎤 Game-mon
05. Dec 2018 · 22:39 UTC
@gwinnell I totally agree with the size problem of the game. It's the kind of issue I don't have time to fix in 48h unfortunately ): Anyway thanks for the review! (: (oh and the icon took me 2 minutes to make, it's just Archibald's hat haha)

Lovely little game with very cute graphics and a cool music :) !
I really appreciated the small details like being able to customize your character's color, the soft lights streaming from the top left corner of the screen and the way the trees moved around !
The gameplay was a wee bit confusing and I had trouble throwing things away at times, but other than that this is a solid game jam entry :) Keep it up !

This is a simple and fun little game. Both the music and graphics was good, but the music loop was a bit short. The story/introduction was good, but it was also a bit long. Overall a good LD game. Well done.

It took an interesting turn when I realized that the "clouds" had an influence on the game. Otherwise it was a cool experience with an interesting interpretation of the theme! Maybe the text could be a bit bigger so we can see it more clearly.

Here's hoping that wasn't a shiny.

![Archibald's_Snobbish_Journey_2018-12-07_17-33-38.png](///raw/519/z/1f65c.png)

This was a rather interesting puzzle of priorities, with a simple yet snappy sense of humor and some sort of logical explanation to each decision. While some aspects of the gameplay were a bit confusing to begin with, at the second round, I caught on the mechanics, and it became quite a fun experience. For something done in 48 hours, this is rather impressive.

Since this game was to the point and works as a short experience, I don't really think of anything to add to make it better. But if you do expand it, you can add some polish, like timers. Those could have been useful.

Anyhow, great job. [My team](discord.whalesandgames.com) sends you salutations and hope to see more projects like this in the coming jams. All round, this was a memorable experience. Cheers! :whale:

I really enjoyed the theme and the graphics of the game. Everything is so bouncy and colorful! The music sounds cool but to me, after a while, it became a bit repetitive. Maybe also because I played the game several times. Your main character looks really cute, especially when he's crying. Overall a great game which was fun and fits the theme very well.

It looks really good and it's fun !

There is one thing I'm not a fan of tho is that you can't do anything when you don't have to throw something away. I feel like it breaks the flow of the game, you are playing and then you have to stop playing, and then play again. I think being able to move items around and prepare an item to throw would feel way better.
🎤 Game-mon
16. Dec 2018 · 12:15 UTC
@yorsh I added this feature to prevent the player from throwing everything away in 3 seconds, to enjoy the journey; but yeah, I'm aware it can become quite frustrating. The kind of issue I didn't know how to fix in 48h x) Thank you so much for the feedback! It's really useful (:

A nice idea, that works very well! The music suited the game perfectly, and overall, the mood was great! I think you missed out on a prime opportunity though; you should have been able to throw out achibald! Very nice game, with a decent amount of polish and a very unique art style. The game didn't last very long, because it seemed to always be the same items. Maybe if there was a variety of items that could spawn, the game experience could last a bit longer? Otherwise and awesome creation, keep developing!

Fun game, with appealing visuals and sounds and a surprisingly complex item category system. Very cool idea. The whole balloon thing didn't seem to matter much, as the game was more just throw away an item every so often, but it provide a narrative frame for why you were doing it, I guess. Very nice work on this, and good luck in the competition.

Nice entry! I think the mechanism needs to be more polished. I don't know I have to wait for the balloon falling before I can throw away something. I made me feel the game stop at the moment. Add hint or make it obvious may solve this misunderstanding.

Hey there! First of all, congratulations on the entry! Compo is crazy and completing it is a big achievement, at least on my book.

Ok, let's get to what I liked the most
- I liked the idea itself. Tossing things away, hoping Archibald doesn't mind that much about the pokeball you just sacrificed (hopefully it was empty!).
- The description lines were well put out and were ambiguous enough to remain interesting for the whole playthrough.
- I like the way you showed 'our health points'. It's simple to implement, it's easy to understand as a player and it is uncommon! I just wouldn't refer to them as clouds on the tutorial, I think it should be Icons.

Biggest problems for me:
- It gets repetitive quite quickly (most games do, anyway!);
- I started enjoying the music, but 15 seconds after I was tired of it already lol;
- When I played, I though there was an end to the game, maybe this is what made it feel more repetitive. I wanted to get to the end of it because I was hoping for some conclusion. I made it to 19 items.
- The animations of the trees... they kinda made me a bit dizzy!

Congrats again!

Cool game! I like how part of the challenge is figuring out which items could belong to which category and which are useless. The art is simple but it works, and the music is pretty nice. The only thing that confused me was that items can only be thrown away when the balloon starts lowering, at first I thought only certain items could be thrown away. Great work
