Rattendorf by NoAim91

Build your rat town in the polluted wasteland, but beware - as your population grows so too does the nightly threat...
Controls
- Mouse wheel to zoom - WASD or arrow keys to pan around - Mouse for clickin' on stuff
Tips
- Make sure you build a lumberjack first thing, if you run out of wood you will be in trouble
- Leave space around the farms, they use it to grow food. Visual feedback on this will be in an update coming soon!

Great job overall, I'm impressed by how much you got in in so little time!
Also an indicator from where the rats attack would be great (or a minimap).
Overall a prettya nice and solid game.
Well Done.
P.S. I got a BlueScreen Error while playing XD (during let the game run on speed 6)
Error:
game/map/map.lua:180: attempt to index a nil value
I would purchase this if it was made in to a full game, I'm impressed.
I found a bug: sometimes when you try to purchase an item and you don't have enough money, it'll be shown as green behind the button, if you sneak the mouse off the button slightly and click, you can purchase it and your funds will go into negative.
Some bugs: The three rightmost function buildings have the same description. The popups don't appear when the game is paused. The game crashed during the second wave, but that could just be me using Wine on Linux...
I ran into this bug, btw: https://i.imgur.com/Ej281Lz.png
First of all, how the amount of polish in this game is out of this world. I have never seen a LD game with save and load game, like wow. And then you have small QoL things like time control and an amazing UI. Graphics are stunning and audio just feels so right.
I love strategy games and this hits home on every level. Please consider further development, I would 100% buy this game :)
game broke :(

But in general a really nice game.
I also got a null value error:

I liked the way the game works, it is a classic archetype but it does work well! One thing that would help is to change some text from the 'day report' to icons, it would probably help the visualization.
Everything was atmospherical and I really entered in the game feel, the music, the colors, the scenario, cool and polished setting.
Unfortunately, I also got a crash (but that is no problem at all for a LudumDare).
AWESOME JOB! I really did appreciate your work and I did enjoy Rattendorf! :)
However I got this error I think on night 3, just as the rats were attacking.

but in the end i restarted the game and ended up playing for quite a while...ended up filling a loot of space with towers =P

Good job overall =)
the concept of playing as rats is cool too!
altough I admit it is a bit confusing and I really would like some sort of tutorial or help with the different buildings and the general objective. for example the ore mine would often not yield any ore or stones and I didn't really know why (even though I put them beside the mountains).
the dificulty is quite challenging right from the start (I believe I died on my first night at first play), but you get used to it. I also finished the game on a bug after 12 or more waves. unfortunately forgot to take a screenshot... I played the fixed version.
But anyway congrat's on putting up a strategy game in a weekend!
Overall, super fun, and super visually pleasing entry! With more features and polish, I can see this becoming a really great game! Great job!
But anyway, that is the best game I playyed so far for this LD, so congrats :)
- No attack animation and hp bar
- Wrong shadow rendering order
- cannot remove building
- The game crashed after some rounds
- mouse got stuck
- want some tooltips
- no clear game goal
- the enemy spawn rate didn't fit the game pace
- The night went on even if all the enemies are died
- Not realized the map can scroll ar first. Then needed a minimap to notice where the attack began
It would be a very good game. Come on.
And I didn't get what the objective was. Simply to stay alive as long as possible? If so it seemed a bit easy, at least on the small map, since after building stuff the first five days I just skipped all days by idling on full speed.
Btw i got this error (i played the jam version so maybe it's been addressed already, but just in case):

Some have mentioned the confusing tooltips. Besides that, I also missed the ability to delete a building and maybe claim some resources back: I got bad luck with the generator and my map had no mountains, so the ore mines were useless (I didn't realise until after I'd placed one because of the tooltip bug).
Speaking of which, if the maps can be as random as it gets, then an alternate way of acquiring resources would be a welcome addition to make the game fairer. I'm aware that it probably would have been too much for the time, but pillaging back, trading or even just scavenging the dead rats' come to mind.
In spite of these things, congrats on a great entry overall!
Of course, it needs more feedback, debugging and balancing, but graphics and music are wonderful and it is already fun to play...
Very cool for a jam game!
Stuff to improve, a smoother transition to night time. Perhaps a simple tutorial on how to build to begin with. The tip for building a lumber mill was helpful.
While I'm personally not a fan of base building games in this manner I can appreciate a damn fine game when I see one.
