The Sunday Massacre by Ziamor

[raw]
made by Ziamor for LD 43 (JAM)

cover.PNG Play as Father Bryer as he gets sent on his most harrowing task yet: He must vanquish the demons that have invaded his church. It has become somewhat of a yearly tradition now as the citizens of Mount Laurrier Township eagerly await their judgment.

Objective With your new found power, set out to do your yearly Demon cleanse. Summon a holy sword to smite your foes, but be careful, with a sword so large and unwieldy you may accidentally take out more then you intend to.

Controls: Use WASD to move around, shift to enter Demon search mode, and space bar/left mouse button to attack.

Great game! You have a fun concept, and I like that you were able to weave a light story into it. The text bubbles popping up next to NPCs as you walk by was a nice touch. Some things that could be improved are that it wasn't clear when I was moving to the next year if that was happening because I lost or won and the camera movement is a big handicap. I was basically walking blindly forward when I wanted to move up or down because the camera doesn't leave space in front of the player character when you move. I'd suggest having the camera follow a point in front of the player character so that you can see where you're walking no matter which direction you turn. Other than that, it was a pretty polished and complete game for only a weekend of work! Great job!

@matt-fabius Thanks for the feedback! I agree about the year changing being very sudden, we wanted to make the transition between years better, but ran out of time.

Pretty good! Enjoyable. Great graphics, and great sounds. Other than missing music, this is pretty great! Love the ending too c:

This is good!
The graphics are very nice, and the gameplay is fun, too. I like how you press space to start mass, and that immediately attacks, letting you know how to play the game.

I didn't understand how ti use True Sight the first time I played, and the right mouse click didn't work for me, for some reason.

Overall, very solid game. Congrats!

Cool concept and fun gameplay! Also enjoyed graphics and music. Probably, year/level change and game over are two fast. And also, sometimes "demon vision" is stuck switched on, feeling it kinda cheating :)

The art for this game is so pretty and the priest's walk animations are pretty cute. I was a little confused how the Father became more popular every year when I killed so many innocents by accident in my demon hunt, haha. I couldn't tell if there was a reward system for slaying demons only. Other than that, it was fun to play!
