Really interesting that you used React :D I also really like that you had an opening cutscene!

The game was a bit difficult though, and my lack of understanding the controls added to that :D I spent way too much health smacking into the walls. Maybe the bandages should disappear after using, so I don't spend life trying to use them when it's not possible).

@hunttis Haha, glad you liked the cutscene. That was literary the first thing i worked on even before knowing what the game will be like.
I didn't have enough time to adjust the balance of the game. At the very end, i lowered the difficulty by a lot. Thought it was going to be to easy but apparently not :)

Cool a react game! It's pretty fun but hard. Wasted some time trying to go back to an old bandage though and that was frustrating. But overall well done.

Has some pretty cool atmosphere, actually. The game works as a sort of slow exploration, and the narrative is compelling. The movement is a little wonky, and the graphics aren't very ambitious, but what's there serves as a very interesting game.

Decent concept, movement felt off (how and when he'd turn, for example). Couldn't finish it, but was intrigued by the diary entries.

Creepy (but great) narrative, and perfect music to go along with it

Interesting, seeing an HTML game that is not a Unity web build :D

I found the game a little difficult, too, and agree that the bandages should disappear (or look different) after they've ben used.

Great sense of building an atmosphere through storytelling. While the graphics were a little bit on the lower end of quality, I would be OK with that assuming that the controls were more precise. It seems to be as though you might be triggering off of a key repeat event to determine movement because if i hold down a key for even like 1.5 seconds, the health completely disappears even if I only move 2 blocks. I'm not sure if that is "design intent" or not, but it seems that health should be tied to number of blocks moved + some time factor possibly, not key press events

That is good react experiment. I could not finish the tho, all the screen went red and stayed there after a while. Bandages and chests didn't work for me.

Creepy, moody. Nice atmosphere. Crawling around a cave bleeding to death is dark. Nice job!

I love how the sense of exploration really adds to the theme and the mood; even the simple graphic of the character crawling through the cave was really effective. Also found it a little difficult, though!

Little difficult, but good idea of a game to fit the theme.

@morphine That's not design intent. I could've sworn it didn't work that way haha.

Thanks for playing everyone! Didn't expect it to be that hard.

Like people before said, like the narrative and atmosphere. But kept dying. Good job!

May try this again later as I need to optimise my movements more but great mood and setup, especially for a compo entry. Very nice.

Great idea! A little bit too hard, I died many times ... and having to skip through the few lines of story and enter your name over and over again is annoying. Despite the sketchy graphics, you succeded to create an interesting mood!
I didn't get to the end (it seems there's very little room for any mistake) but I'm very curious about what I would have found!

Not bad. Die a number of times while going through. Interesting to see a game in browser using javascript. The graphics were on the shoddier side, but it was nice that you went for a narrative flow.

Wow, with just styled HTML and Reactjs? God I admire this. This is so great for Compo. I'm kinda envious of your web dev skills :P

This has a great mood. Really creepy/eerie; probably the creepiest I've played out of all the LD39 games so far. Very intriguing and tense narrative. I loved finding out what happened to the previous guy. I think you'd be good at making horror games :D

"..39th time this happened" reference to LD39? lol. My only advice would be to insert more bandages (easier) as others have said, and maybe include a minimap in the corner. These are all theoretical of course, and good to keep in mind for future similar games; for compo, I am so impressed. :D

You have sort of an interesting story there. The mood was great, and the music set the atmosphere of the dark misterious cave. Good job!

@angela-he Thanks! And I'm envious of your drawing skills :b
Now that you mentioned it, minimap sounds like something I should've spared some time to implement! A bit regretful now haha.

One of the inspiration that helped me made this game was [Robby](http://www.windows93.net/#!robby) (Ps. I can't find the original link to the game). At first, I was afraid that the game was going to be too short.
I started making the story in the evening. By night, I haven't finished even 1 minute of gameplay!

In Robby, you're not meant to finish the game in one go. So I took this idea and I guess made the game too hard haha xD. (Finished making the game at 5am, submission is at 8am my local time)

Very interesting story! I included it in my Ludum Dare 39 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiayEbHjWUc
