Wow this was neat. I'm a bit of a sucker for outrun aesthetics and synth music, so this game was very pleasing. The trivia was fun, but a bit too challenging. There was a question about the state i live in and i didn't get it right. Either way i had a ton of fun, even if i barely had $1000 as my score.

A combination never seen before!
Seems only one category is avaiable: strange laws. So I'll leave out the quality of the questions.
I'm a big new retro wave fan so your game draw my attention immediately.
The aesthetics work perfectly.

Thanks for playing & rating!

@MacDoom yeah, we would have liked to add in more categories had time permitted, alas... it was a fickle pickle that bounced to stay legal in connecticut 🥒

@blobo pro tip - check the border color of the billboards 😉

@Lost-Dutchman-Software I am here for this C O M M E N T 😎

Fun little game. The visuals really stands out. I felt like the racing part could have been a bit faster, but overall it feels quite polished :)

Now this was a great experience! Everything, from the introduction and gameplay to the visuals and sound works perfectly! I would have liked to see the correct answer, when I guessed wrong but maybe that was also intentional to have a greater replayability. But anyway, nice job guys!

The trivia were interesting. I got the the funny state laws and I only managed to get 1 right.

Definitely love the graphics. The runner part could use some speed but other than that, the game works well. I love the idea!

Pretty nice concept. The atmosphere is really good!
Perhaps a little countdown before question ends (3...2...1) + big feedback when you win/lose could add more immersion.
Good job! :D

Wow, such polish! The art, the music, the sounds, and the overall *feel* is super consistent and really solid. Like, compelling: after playing I feel like I want to know more about what the universe this takes place in is like. Why do they watch bizarre game shows like this? Why do they suffer crystal infestations on the city highways? Just really great theming and mood.

Absolutely love the style of this one - great art and sound! Super good theme :D Originally I thought the game was running bad and kind of jerky, but closing and reopening my browser fixed this so other people may want to watch out for it.

Spacebar would not progress the intro though! I had to sit through it twice which was really frustrating - or if it DOES progress then it doesnt do it quick enough I wanted to just skip through. But honestly I don't think it was doing anything.

Still, solid entry, nicely put together, good idea! Well done!

Awesome game! Beautiful graphics, and the soundtrack is really nice.

Super Neat idea, it would have been way more fun if the questions were actually answerable :-/. I just guessed pretty much all of them.

But still, one of the better entries this LD!

I like the graphics of your game which are retro style. I like the stroy you try to put in there.
It was a bi frustrating to not pass the intro when you restart but its not a big deal when you finally are in the game.
Otherwise well done :)

Love the art, beautifully done!

Would have been cool to see what answer was the right one when you're wrong. The car was also going a little too slow, thus the challenge only was on the questions and not on the driving part.

I still liked it, and learned that I shouldn't ride an ugly horse if I ever visited Wilbur!

Really great aesthetic, both art and music. I was hopeless at the trivia because of the subject, but I can understand you had to narrow it down to a single thing. I managed to survive for quite a while just collecting the cash off the road. I honestly didn't find the driving part to be too much of a challenge or distraction from the trivia - using the laser is not that punishing and also pretty much required in many cases where there is no viable way to dodge the obstacles, and the whole thing is too slow moving to really take your mind off the trivia effectively. Good game overall though.

Great game, I especially loved the audio and the meed. Thank you for the soundcloud link, it will keep me listening for some time.
The game gave me questions related to law in certain US cities/ states. That was impossible to answer.. That was the only thing that got me sad a bit, is that I felt I could not win regardless of what I do and I was just hitting blocks randomly. A set of general geography/ math/ biology questions would have been way more pleasing for the greater bulk of players (and if youy have them right now, whould have been great t oallow to influence the roll/ allow to reroll).
In every other way, I enjoyed thye game, enjoyed riding the car with a synth feel)

Aesthetic is super cool! Love the vibe. Dig the soundtrack. Trivia is great. All the tones are great. It was a little jarring that the announcer would tell me how good car 41 was before I picked it, I guess that's the flip side of having the announcer on rails. Thanks for the awesome submission! 5 stars for mood for sure.

Love the art and music ! I feel like a retard but I'm french I have no idea for most of the question lmao so I can't answer correctly... It would have been better to focus mecanics or something on the road for retard like me I guess ? :c Missed some visual feedback sometimes but liked the game anyway, well played ! :D

The aestetics, the music, the sounds are all amazing. The game itself gets a little boring. The trivia questions were impossible, to be honest. I ended up ignoring them.

Graphics were awesome! The look and feel is really polished, even the song is quite relaxing. I didn't want to shoow any money at the beginning and kept failing, but at the end I got most questions right, somehow. *Feels like a lawyer*

Crazy laws these ones you still have around! xD

This game has a very nice feel. Everything (the aesthetics, the music) you selected tie very well together. The trivia questions are interesting (I managed to get a 675 as a foreigner so I guess they are not THAT challenging) but I would prefer to see the answers after I got a wrong answer (or maybe I did not notice).
You guys did a great job!

Interesting concept, it felt a little slow, but the setup and feel of the game were great. I wish there were some easy questions at the begging so I'm not just guessing and don't get to see the use laser/stay in correct lane trade off. And also to make me feel accomplished and want to keep playing.

Great looker and the music is stellar. Have I mentioned I adore the soundtrack? No really, it's amazing!

Suggestions/nit-picks:
* the game felt slow - maybe the questions could just stay at the top and the car could then go much faster (the billboards were great, but at the cost of slowing the whole thing down)
* the cost of firing could be lower - half the cost of actually getting hit seemed a bit excessive
* the trivia could be less US-centric - I know it's just weird outdated laws, but still

Loved the aesthetics, 80's-outrun-synth! Fun combo of genres also. But the progression was a bit lacking, felt easy all the time. The questions were ridiculous though and could just have been "mumbo-jumbo". ;)
Really well done!

A LOT of charm and a lot of hard work and attention to detail in the theming and art style - I really liked the wobbly guy at the beginning - Really cool tunes (I was listening to the Retrowave Outrun Spotify playlist back to back while working on LD41 so it really tickles my pickle) - The questions were tough but hilarious, I found myself guessing most of the time (particularly as a non-US person (not that that would matter much probably 😅)) BUT YEAH very creative and polished and incredibly well-presented. I've saved all the tunes to my Soundcloud collection too 😉

I very like the concept of the game and I had lots of fun. However, in my case every answer in trivia was shoot. Weird American laws are always funny, but for foreigners, they are really difficult.

Fantastic entry! It's evident that a great amount of effort went into this, and it definitely shows. I love the outrun/retro art style, and the music, the sounds, the actual gameplay, everything feels just right, just pure bliss.

Really the only thing that bugged me a little bit was that the questions seemed too focused on things like obscure laws of American cities and states, which makes it a little hard for us non-American folks : )

But overall, I still had a lot of fun. Really outstanding work, you guys rock!

I really have to say, I know you're already getting a lot of comments about art and aesthetics, but I have to emphasize some things. A lot of games, especially LD games have gone with the 80's look. My god, you took it to another level. This is not an LD level of work. This is some seriously professional looking stuff. I'm blown away. You took a lot of care not just into the sprites but the UI as well. Nothing but praise here.

I don't expect to see another racing/quiz game hybrid this LD, seems pretty unique so far. One game to take a look at is Tales Runner - Math King. If you want to go further with this but take it to a more action game, that's a great example to study.
