Storage Rental 101 by SpeedySloth99
Storage Rental 101 is a tiny management game where the goal is to make as much money as possible by renting out storage units while keeping your customers loyal to your company. With limited storage units, how will you maximise profit?
Instructions are on the itch.io page. The HTML5 version might not work, sorry about that.
Please don't be too harsh on me, I've never even attempted UI (The most I've ever done is two buttons that I copied from a tutorial) before, so this is all I had time for :P

* given the screen real estate, it would have been nice to be able to just have all the clients on the screen at once
* game took a bit to figure out what to do.. and it starts really slowly.
* wasn't clear if there was a goal to the game other then just make money... is there a win/loose condition?
@adroitconceptions Permanently displaying the clients is a great idea, I should've thought of it! There is a win/loss contition, but I started implementing it with about 5 minutes left of the compo, so it's nowhere near as prevalent as I would like it to be. Thanks for taking the time to give me criticism!
There doesn't seem to be any real objective to the game, so I just kept the storage units as full as possible.
I would also like to see my current money on the same screen as my clients.
But the game told me to keep playing, and I did.
And it was at this moment that everything took sense. I was at the bottom but I realised that there would always be someone who would need a storage a.k.a. free money. I started charging way more money, losing easily my clients but making new ones right after. A few clicks later I had one thousand dollars.
Some people would say it's a lack of balance in the economy of your game, but I took it almost as a life lesson about having money issues, hit the bottom, but get over it with the help of a second chance.
I'm probably reading too much into this but I guess it's the experience that counts in the end ^^
So good job and keep making games !!!
@stames There actually is a cost that gradually gets greater, but I implemented it with literally 5 minutes left, so it doesn't work very well and isn't very prevalent.
@totalaj I don't know why, but when I programmed it, I made it so when you changed a customer's loyalty or rent, it multiplied one by 0.9 and multiplied the other by 1.1. So if you pressed 'Charge more', the customer's loyalty would be multiplied by 0.9 and their loyalty would be multiplied by 1.1. Because 1 x 0.9 x 1.1 != 1, this means that stuff like what you said happens. I could've easily instead done multiplied by 0.9 and divided by 0.9, I honestly have no idea why I didn't.
@corqi I would've loved to have added more content, but I simply didn't have the time.
@dokalfar When I decided use this idea, it was more with the mentality of 'I'll be able to try doing UI', rather than 'I'm going to try to make the game awesome!'. The idea I chose didn't really have any way to be more fun, and I knew it at the time when I chose it.
@ravenflame Thanks! I wanted to have an upgrade system from the moment I fleshed out the game, but I sadly didn't have time.
@digital-bacon Thank you for your comment! Sound wasn't really an objective for me, but if I had the time, I would've implemented some.
@kiirohinabi Wow, you really read into it! I didn't intend it to go that deep, but I know what you mean. I'm guessing what you're saying is that the game's kind of like (a very, very, very poor attempt at) Papers, Please. That game has a really monotonous, helpless feeling, but it's amazing at the same time. I can see how you see that, and I might try to make another game that really gives that feeling (If I can manage to design something like that). Thanks for your comment, it really means a lot to me that someone took so much time to give me feedback, and even some insight into my own game!!!
