Story:
It was another (mostly) peaceful day on planet earth when they arrived...
There was no warning, no hint of friendly intent.
No human they encountered was left alive.
They worshiped a being beyond human comprehension.
The circle.
To create the perfect circle they drained the life of every human being they could find.
They destroyed our houses and built completely round ones instead.
But...
Even in this darkest of times
Mankind has not lost it's hope.
For they have a hero who will smite these eldritch beings.
A hero born from the only shape that matters: the square.
His name is Captain Pixel.

I had fun on your game, it's enjoyable and I very like the musics. The weapon downgrade works well too ! Great job !

Nice game, the downgrade system allow us to play different ways. There was a peak of difficulty the third stage, but after few death, totally nailed it.

Hands down the best game I've played so far, great concept, tight controls and fun progression. My only gripe is the initial overwhelming nature of the enemy fire patterns, I think it would be better if you felt more powerful at the beginning and weaker at the end, this would lend it self to a more natural difficulty curve too. Otherwise fantastic entry! Looking forward to your next one in LD40!

What a experience! I lol'ed audibly when the angel grants you the shotgun.

The constant change between guns was really confusing, especially because each one have so little ammo I could even begin to experiment with them.

Loved the angle. She was pretty great. Sometimes I feel like the day could be going better, and then an angle comes to me and gives me a shotgun. You captured that moment perfectly.

Anyway, the graphics are very good with the main characters and the title screen, but the bright red and green balls kind of stick out like a sore thumb.

The game was pretty fun to play, and I liked the assortment of weapons that it contained, especially the reflective spinny thing.

The audio was pretty good as well. Nothing to complain about except for the constant 'uh!' the first time I played it when I was much worse at running from the red bullets.

Good overall game; I enjoyed it!

Thematically I really liked this game, but the execution left some things that I think could be improved. The character just didn't feel up the challenge of the enemies, his movement was too slow and his means of attack too limited. It was really difficult to feel like anything other than a helpless seal through most of it. Enemies were relentless and unpredictable. They had a lot of health and were extremely hard to attack. Basically, the level of challenge was too high too quickly. Since the player kept losing powers but the difficulty of the game objectively kept getting harder, it made those leaps in challenge a lot larger. I didn't finish the game, I tried to beat it twice and after I died I gave up.

Good entry, but it was too difficult for the abilities of the character. That all said, the angel bringing you a shotgun is the most Duke Nuke'em thing I've seen in a long time. Nice touch!

I liked the graphics and the concept, the game was also pretty fun to play. Had a little trouble with windows version getting it to load properly. Also found the difficulty of the game to be too high to do well. Enjoyed running around and doing what I could for a while though

It took me some time to understand how to dodge this bullet hell but I never lost hope, I believed in the angel that believed in me... and gave me a shotgun. The game is fun but initially overwhelming and the music was nice. On my PC, the game window is bigger than my screen and has an offset from the top left corner so I think that I couldn't see a part of the scene (In the menu/splash screen, I can't see below the captains knees). Overall, It was a fun game and I enjoyed it.

Great game and the mechanics + story was well excuted, good job. Found it hard at first but after seeing I was being revived every time the difficulty didn't matter.

I can't say that I was any good at this game, but what I did mange to play was pretty solid, and had some of the most humorous content I've come across in LD39. Great work!

I don't have much to say in addition to what has already been said.

The third level should have been completable with the shotgun and pistol combo. Currently neither weapon has enough ammo or damage output to take out the high HP mongrels. It is kind of lame to succumb to old age right in the beginning of the 4th level.

I like the civies running around. Gives you a nice *alien invasion in progress* feel to it all.

Good work. With tweaking and polish this would be great work.

Interesting game, however, I had a lot of trouble getting it to work well with recording! I included it in my Ludum Dare 39 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hFP2TT_L4k
