Crystal Invasion is a short arcade action game where you must destroy crystals to advance the level. Defend against multiple enemies as they try to kill you or damage the map by placing timed bombs. Divide your attention between damaging crystals, killing enemies or pushing bombs away. You must preserve every tile you can, as water becomes a dangerous acid during the last level.

Controls

  • WASD (or Arrow keys) - Movement
  • Mouse cursor - Aim weapon
  • Left mouse click - Attack with weapon
  • Right mouse click - Activate shield
  • Numbers 1 and 2 (or Mouse scroll wheel) - Change weapon

Tips

  • The sword is more damaging than the bow.
  • Water may not be dangerous at the beginning, but you won't beat the last level without enough ground! Try to destroy or push the bombs during the first levels to avoid losing tiles.
  • Pick-ups won't disappear over time, so you may stock them for later.

Known Bugs

  • In Google Chrome, the character sometimes gets stuck in one direction. This doesn't seem to happen in Windows or in other browsers.
  • Sometimes water tiles will appear instead of acid tiles in the last level...

I love the cute art style and the animations are well worked-out. The controls also feel nice and smooth. Excellent entry! :smiley:

This game is well polished! My only problem is that my movement would sometimes get stuck and my character would go in only one direction, I would have to fight my character every now and then to gain back control over him. If not, everything else went really well! Good job!

Seems polished for only a weekend. Liked playing the game, art is cool, controls work great and it's kind of addictive! ^^

Fantastic. The concept is excellent and very well put together. Beautiful artwork. Sound effects are very well done. A couple of critiques.. I lost control of the character a couple of times and ended up in the sea! Wasn't sure if this was intentional after being hit but it seemed that the controls locked. The battle music should be a little more upbeat to fit the frantic nature of the game. I didn't see the danger of ground being destroyed by the bombs, as I could walk through the sea no problem. Only small things though, well done!

Thanks, @jamesolivermusic. It's a bug with Chrome, sorry for that. The sea becomes acid in the last level (5), so it would be hard to beat the game without protecting the tiles.

Solid game! Nice visual and cool music highly improve an atmosphere. Battle mechanics are great too. But killing enemies is not so useful as damaging crystals or pushing bombs out beacuse they respawn immediately on earth. Maybe they should respawn with delay or respawn offshore?

Excellent concept and enjoyable mechanics with a good difficulty curve. Might just be my mouse, but I found using the wheel to swap between sword and bow didn't work 100% of the time.

I really didn't expect this to be so stressful! Damn. So much to do, so much death, so many bombs, ooof! As others said, this is surprisingly polished. Visually this might be the best game I've seen so far. Gameplay and presentation are also top notch. I just wish it was a little easier, I couldn't manage to get past the 3rd or 4th level as it just took me too long to destroy the crystals. Great game though, really impressive!

This is a great entry. I really love the pixelArt you made here. Gameplay is simple but addicting, weaplon change and shiled gives makes the game more solid. Evasive roll would be nice! Very nice work, you should keep the project on. Congratulations.

The game is really fun to play, I like the level of polish and I think the bow really feels satisfying. You've added lots of small details and the game is perfectly readable at any moment, that's really good. I'd have hoped a bit more feedback, and maybe an hint on the enemy's remaining life points. Although the player blinks white when they get hit, I think you should add more feedback so that the player is aware and impacted by the hit. Overall it's a fun little game, congrats!
