The Party by JackIsaacs

[raw]
made by JackIsaacs for LD 40 (JAM)

Intro

This is just a little fun I thought I could have this weekend (My first jam!). The game revolves around not wanting a surprise party to start in your house, battle it out through 3 waves and be the ultimate party-pooper!

The game gets slightly harder at later stages with greater numbers of guests, which links to the theme.

Liked the mood! Controls and gameplay was a bit lacking, but overall quite nice. Thanks for the game!

Wow we have a really good innovative concept here. Nice graphics, music and global atmosphere. Party at home Yeah ! (wait what ? my home ?)
Some improvement wanted
- I only find 1 interaction possible turning the light On/Off, I want more
- Only 3 rounds, I want more

Please I want more Party !

What a great and fun use of the theme. Sadly, this is only the prototype of something that would be really fun as a game. There is too little interaction to really make this an engaging experience. However, the 3 rounds playing are super fun and it has a great The Sims vibe to it. Already one of my favorite entries for LD40!

@odrez, @r2d48 Thank you!

I humbly agree there is little interaction (don't forget the bathroom door key ), the AI was tricky to implement so it sapped a lot of time away from me

It was fun! Is it what it's like to be at a party?
Quickly discovered that game is more comfortable with up-view camera

Nice take on the theme. Good simplistic but functional art style. Would have liked some more interactions; such as throwing booze outside of the house or kicking couples out of the bedroom *wink*!

Great work on this! The audio is excellent - the way the party sounds fade in and out works really well. I also really enjoyed the camera controls - the one thing I ended up wanting was some the camera to stop moving while I was hovering over the "turn on the lights" switch. I could definitely see this being a really enjoyable full game, and it's a very well polished compo entry!

No party here! Me wants sleep. I enjoyed the ambient sounds! And the songs ofc. But I just had to stop that party! It was nice that I could block them

Great game idea and graphics. At the beginning it was fun to play but once you figured out how to solve it, I could repeat the same tactic on all levels. Turn on the lights in one room until people get unhappy and leave and then move to the next room. I didn't figure out what to do with the bathroom door. Maybe there are hidden ester eggs I didn't find?

Is it intended that this game is published in Compo? Or was it meant to go into Jam? Because at least as I understand the rules, use of 3rd party music/audio/graphics I think is only allowed in Jam?? (That said, it would still be a good Jam game)

@leff108 yes sorry didn't realise the compo had to be all self-made stuff!! Have changed to Jam.

Fine graphics, good start to a game. I think if you keep building in more interactions this could be pretty fun.

Good game, but you need to opt out of audio, since you didn't make it all. Nice job though! Also, the effects of the theme aren't readily apparent, especially since you are guaranteed a win, since you can't lose.

Really cool game, graphics and sound, those games that keep you thinking how it can be made in 2 days.
