This is a really good game, I love the mix of 2d and 3d. It's fun, it's beautiful, it has good audio. Can't ask for more really, maybe more enemies (but who cares)! Good job!

Very enticing story. Made me hella motivated to save that King. Horse sprites are awesome as are the sound effects. I like how the 3d gives a feel of depth to the environment makes me think Zelda... Oh and music was very fitting for the theme.

Impressive for a compo ; so much music, sound and graphics!
Riding the horse is quite fun, however it's too hard to aim for bats while running, I always had to stop, which breaks the flow a little.
Great job anyway!

Nice musical and graphical aesthetic. Platforming was fun. Shooting was less fun.

Awesome job! The game looks great! The low poly 3d backgrounds mixed with well animated sprites really seal the deal! The opening story was a nice touch, along with the music. It's just a really polished, well made entry! Luckily, the game plays as well as it looks. Solid controls and fun platforming bits. I really enjoyed the dashing mechanic.

I really only have a few small complaints. The ending didn't live up to the opening, and it was a tad bit too short. the game is a little dark if you don't play it at full-screen. I suggest you darken the background color on the web-page a bit. Lastly, I'm not quite sure the bow needs a button to aim, it seems like it would work just fine with just holding down left mouse to engage it.

Overall, a really great and fun entry! Well done!

Excellent game! Great aesthetic. Has a real Runescape feel. Loved the horse animation. Had fun playing it on stream!

I guess with "running out of power" you mean health? I like the usability, and how to shoot, dash etc is realy intuitive. To be honest i don't like much the graphics. But in general it is a nice game :D The cmobination between side scroller and shooter in this case is finally something new :D

I thought the player graphic and the environments looked really really good. I wasn't a huge fan of the 3d lighting in combination with the 2d sprites, I think it detracted from how good the sprites were. Fun bow mechanics.

I like the 2d horse and rider animation on the 3d background with the 2d trees. It looks really cool. Its nice that a jaunty tune plays. The platforming is pretty well done although I did find a few input bugs. Sometimes a button will stay down after I die. I will be dashing and I fall off a platform and then when I re-spawn dash continues. This is great for a speed runner though ;) I like arrow weapons and this one is pretty satisfying to use and the hit feed back is really clear. I made it to the end I rescued the king.

Nice game. The tutorial is a good idea but I would warn the player that it is a tutorial ;-)
Keep moving forward.

Pretty solid game! I dig the aesthetic, and the platforming's good, but the combat's a bit finnicky, but that might be a side-effect of the webGL version - it's tricky to actually shoot sometimes; something about the holding-down LMB mechanic freezes up fairly often and I fail to shoot anything, or rapidfire for no apparent reason.

The music is fantastic and really adds to the mood. Nice work!

The whole time I kept thinking that the queen's horse is way bigger than the bats and should be able to just plow through them. It was certainly a fun game, and I liked the idea behind the shooting mechanics, though I agree with the other commentators that one-button shooting could have worked fine. Also, I frequently found myself wishing that I could shoot backwards. It wasn't always obvious that certain obstacles could be broken by arrows. The music is nice and fit thematically, but it was too relaxed to set the mood for a timed mission. I experienced no bugs (WebGL/Firefox). I did enjoy the use of 3d backgrounds.

Nice game! Especially to have such nice graphics and audio in COMPO.

As other seem to already mentioned: the shooting mechanic could be improved. For me personally, it feels clunky and goes against the "running out of time" feeling the rest of the game has.

I can't help myself. The exploding bats reminded me of Charlie the Unicorn .

Lowering the difficulty just a bit (maybe just increasing the time limit or the number of lives) would be nice.

Great work!

Really pretty, though I got irrevocably stuck at the first rock obstacle. And yeah, the RMB/LMB thing for the shooting is really hard to actually do controls-wise.

Very difficult, so fairly liberal checkpointing was welcome.

Also I just really like the "2.5D" aesthetic

Pretty cool, short game. I like how you mixed pixel art with 2.5d levels, it worked out pretty well, animations are also pleasing to the eye. Platfroming and shooting enemies is challenging and entertaining, checkpoints sure are useful. Shooting requires using both mouse buttons which is unusual for most players but you can quickly get used to it. In overall pretty cool game.

I saved the king! The bats were awesome, the mechanic even better and I also loved the landscape, horse animation... everything! I remember your Chill Bill, it was one of my favourite of LD38 and this year, you rock again! :)

Love the 2.5D graphics, reminded me of some of the older games I've played. The animation quality is quite good as well. Combine with the movement speed I do feel like I was riding a horse. Music was relaxing and fits the riding quite well. However, I found the game quite challenging especially with the bow trajectory and the small hit box of the bats. I've also ran into issues on the second level where if I dash, I can dash through a floor and die :( Overall very enjoyable experience though.

Pretty cool, I also liked the 2.5d thing, makes a change in LD, somehow I felt that the controls were a bit awkward with the combination of arrows and space and mouse. Also I found that I had to stop every time i hit a bat anyway so a bit like flipping between 2 games. Graphics and music were nicely done and game play was still fun enough to keep me going to the end, I liked that you gave it a complete story to make it feel more complete.

Really liked this one. Audio was well done and graphics are impressive for a compo. The sprite work on the horse and rider is particularly nice. My main gripes are more to do with the Unity collision engine than with your implementation. Particularly on the bridge there is a section that is two quick jumps then a long jump with bat on the place you are to land on. I would always do the first jump and then my horse decapitates itself as if flies under the bridge. Maybe add a static collider just under that bit to keep from slipping under? I saw in the bugfixes that there was some collision on the bridge fixed but maybe it wasn't pushed to the webGL version? or could just be that webGL ports in unity tend to be pretty buggy overall.

Anyways, great job!

Nice graphics. My 10 year old daughter saw me playing and say "ooooh, what's that?" She really like the horse and that it wasn't just one scene... the grass, bridges, etc. were all cool for her. Nice job.

I don't know why bats are exploding with particle effects from being killed with arrows and I don't care. Explosions + particle effects = fun. I also really like the aesthetic of your game as well as the audio. No complaints, would jump off bridge again.

I really love your art style! 2D object running on 3D ground is cool!
That' ll be awesome if your game has an online high score! I probably will try to get on the ranking!

Fun game, i liked the art and the background music fit in very well. A small problem for me is that i if you had to jump from a lower bridge to a higher one i sometimes got stuck or i run under the upper part and lose health.

The game was fun and was interesting. I do not think it followed the theme though. The jump mechanic was a little difficult but it just took a little longer to get used to.

Game is pretty hard, but I like it :)

- \+ Interesting mix of 2D and 3D assets
- \+ Soundtrack which nicely fit into game

- \- I am not sure, but I not see any kind of energy/power as said "theme"
- \- Pretty hard

Nice game! A sort of cross between a runner and platform/action game.

I liked the overal atmosphere of the game and every aspect helped with that.
The 2d graphics matched the style of the 3d. The music was calm and fitting, so was the story and even the font. All are wel chosen/made together!
I agree with most that the controls are not the most responsive. For some reason, I could not use both the right and left mouse buttons at the same time. Never had that before.

Nevertheless, I enjoyed playing this game. Kudos!

Really dig the graphics and midi tunes. Got some trouble figuring out why should I shoot big lumps on the road to pass them, so I've tried to jump it with no success. Also two-button bow is hard to control when bats all around you.

The horse animation is lovely in this, made the gameplay that much better having such nice movement. Liked the challenge of running while also having to at times, jump and shot. Think the camera could be tweaked and tightened cause at times I'd pull back and it would completely flick which was pretty disorienting. The story was nice and simple but also different from the typical king being the hero so liked the role reversal in this from what is generally expected in these.
