Minor quibble though, overall, very impressive!
Gameplay way, is a bit simplistic, but that impression might come from the fact that +stamina sponsors are too strong and it doesn't take long until you don't need to do anything else but sprint to the finish. At the beginning though, when you stamina is still limited, having to juggle speed with stamina consumption proved a decent challenge.
Very impressive overall!
Something is wrong there ?
The first race left me confused on what to do as I was just thrown into it but apart from that the game was really fun.
The music was really nice, even if you didn't make it yourself or something, it still a great fit with the game and the overall sprite animations. The walk and run base sfx was insane, i enjoyed it.
The gameplay is fun, it was not clear first that i've to pres quickly and charge later with space, but once i knew it, it became a fight between me and the keyboard :D
good job!

Overall I liked the mechanics, combined with fitting graphics and audio. Very well done!
@devastus I made the music indeed. I spent only a couple of minutes on it however, as I made it around 1h before the end of the jam, so the loops are very short. Thanks again for playing!
The level of polish on this entry is totally top notch, this game can be used to actually teach how to present a game graphically. The pixel art work quite good and have a great style, except maybe for the the people in the background tat assists to the races, they feel a bit too static or too low details for me.
The music and the sounds also work quite well with the game and are quite good to listen too.
The gameplay is quite fun, and the progression system (with sponsors and cups to collect) was quite enjoyable too. The game unfortunately felt a bit too easy, especially after some upgrades to stamina. Another thing that was strange for me was that the marathons were runnable again in the same year, but that's probably linked to the random generation of sponsors. At the end I discovered that the game was easily finished by pressing constantly s d and space together (but the sponsor will always reject the results?!!!!)
Overall the game is awesomly presented, it's fun to play, is not too short and not too long (it ends when the gameplay start to feel repetitive) and the theme of the jam was followed quite literally!
Congratulations on this awesome entry!
Well done!
