People/Power by SecondDimension

[raw]
made by SecondDimension for LD 43 (JAM)

Our entry is about feeding people to a giant robot to generate electricity. It's a light puzzle game, similar in style to 90's classic Lemmings, but mainly it's a stupid physics toy for flinging people around. All gameplay, art and music was created by us over the weekend.

TIPS: It's all controlled with the mouse, and basic help is found in-game if you need it. But if you get stuck then just use fans to blow the little people to their doom. Boxing Gloves are fun, but not that practical!

@wumbomancer Yeah itch crashed and didn't save my changes! It should be available now.

I'm loving the graphics, such smooth animations!

Oh wow, this is amazing. Really fun and unique, had fun experimenting with the different contraptions :D

My only issue is that there is too much trial and error at the beginig since you don't know what each contraption does and how to complement them. A tutorial or incremental levels would have gone a long way.

Great entry though!

Fantastic! I just spent 30+ minutes on this... I wasn't particularly good at the levels - it was just really fun to play around with! Absolutely sublime graphics - the animations are captivating. I just want more contraptions when you release this for real, thank you.

I found that i can place vertical windmachine under the mosnter and win.
And just take 1 item and play with them, there's more dynamic logic, than static. Nice, but looks broken, hah.

To me this feels more like The Incredible Machine than Lemmings, just with 'running marbles'. I was thinking about a Lemmings-inspired game myself, but scrapped it as I didn't enought ideas about possible mechanics, but you made it work (lemmings or not).

In any case, the visuals, music and overall mood is amazing. I had fun trying to beat the levels, but the indeterministic physics undermined it a bit. Also, I'd have preferred no collisions between the little buggers as this seemed to happen to me way to often: ![2018-12-04 20_50_03-People_Power by Second Dimension Games.png](///raw/7f2/3/z/1ed9f.png)

Graphics are great. Some of the physics mechanics seemed more useful than others. The levels themselves could to be tailored to fit them better.

Nice! Last levels were too easy. Just blowing air up to his jaw. :P

Nice take on the theme, been ages since I tried anything similar to Lemmings.

This is a fun idea and beautiful graphics, however for me it feels like it's too difficult to actually do anything in the game. Better controls and more predictable behaviour would help.

I really like this game ! The concept is smart, the robot is cute ! Well done ! Just a little problem, we can see that you build a lot of level, but the solution is always the same in the end :/

I grew up on The Incredible Machine so this was absolutely in my taste. Quite a lot of fun trying to figure out how to get the little guys to the big robot though as others have mentioned, physics are a bit wonky so hard to figure out how get a working path. Great art-direction as well!

This is awesome. I love this genre, and this was a really fun take on it. Between the restrictive placement of the pieces and the non-deterministic physics making it difficult to know if a piece is working properly, I had a hard time getting into the swing of things, but it was still fun experimenting and playing around. I particularly appreciated that you can hover with a block to see how it functions a bit before committing. The graphics are great, just right for what you're doing here, and the music fit well. I really like the packaging - with a bit of tweaking to the physics and maybe a bit more balance on the blocks, this could be something really great! Definitely one worth some iteration after the jam if you're into that. =)

Really great graphics and music. I found it a little hard to use some of the machines in the ways that I wanted, but it's possible I just didn't understand them or their placement properly. The art style is totally cool, and I like the humor with the Brexit backstory. Very funny. Nice work!

A very nice idea, perfectly executed.

Make the physics a little bit more deterministic and you've got a great contraption game with an interesting twist.

Thanks for making this game, it's been really fun to play!

It seems like every character is different and there is a lot of randomness. I like that it isn't as easy as getting the same path for everyone 👍

I realy enjoyed it, It looks like a mix between "the fly game" and Pikmin.

It's sad that there is a lot of conflicts in the mechanics which often break what we are planning to do but if you fix it, it will be a true amazing game. (I understand that this type of game is realy hard to do as solid as a realy finished game in a ludum).

Awesome graphics and music by the way, 5/5 for those without any hesitation!

Nice job guys!

Some levels are very easy. You can complete these with just putting horizontal wind under the robot. It seems like some features are designed but couldn't added to game. I didn't even many assets. Grahpics are very good. Good job! Waiting for the updates!

Loved your game. Played through all the levels. They seem a little repetitive but is ok. The art style is really neat and polished. Loved it. Nice story too. Good job!

Brexit war? Really well done game with an interesting gameplay. You added many features so as to sacrifice these humans. The music is hypnotical - a great mood. You created a good puzzle game in a few days. You manage the theme as good is possible. Addictive. Thank you ++

 I was going to say Lemmings before I read your description... since The Incredible Machine was also taken I guess I'll say the guy kind of looks like the Lode Runner guy. ^_^ I liked the flavor text on the victory screen (it helped to create the game's world).

:point_right: The game could use a bit more to keep me engaged... it's fun playing around, but as you stated, it's mostly a physics sandbox.

:star: Overall good job, and thank you for making this.

More of a toy than an actual game, but a great one at that! Had a lot of fun experimenting with the different contraptions and watching my people fly around weirdly (even more fun when I found out that I could push people around with some unbuilt contraptions). It also looks incredible and sounds really nice. Great job overall!
