I haven't been working with GameMaker for too long so it was interesting to combine the things I did know how to do with what I had to learn on the fly. I hadn't done any work with surfaces in GameMaker before, but I ended up learning how they work in order to draw my peanut butter or jelly \"spread\" into a surface, turning it into a sprite, and using that for collision checks.\n\nOf course I had to scrap that system due to problems I was running into with GameMaker's HTML5 export (the problem seems to be calling sprite_collision_mask() with a sprite created on the fly, but I don't know why it won't let me do that!). I managed to throw together an alternate system in the last couple hours--it wouldn't be a game jam game if it wasn't held together with twigs and spit, right?
