Huber Driver by ema1ih

[raw]
made by ema1ih for LD 41 (JAM)

ENABLE FULLSCREEN

Use the Huber app (from your phone) to pick up customers. Once you accept a customer (you have to move a little bit to be able to click accept), you have to find him in the city (the app will tell you just the location). After you pick him up, the mini map will show his destination. You have to take him there. The more you drive, the more money you get (2$/km).Be careful to don't drive too much because the customer may get out and he will not give you any money. You can also get fees if you have a car accident or if you injure a person.

At the end of the day you can choose what to buy with your earned money.

If you buy alcohol, the next morning you'll be drunk and you'll get a higher fine if you have an accident.

The game has three days and one final night (with a plot twist).

I didn't vote, never managed to spawn a customer, not intuitive enough.

Unfortunately we didn't have time to implement a tutorial, but I updated the description so you'll know what you have to do.

Interesting game, I liked the idea. I couldn't work out how to use the phone/see any instructions for this though.

Very nice game, i had problems clicking on the phone more than once, also, it felt the car hitboxex were to large, i kept crashing for the first minutes... But I did finish it. Nice ending! :D Good Art, Great job.

Cool game. I now know, that i should never become a Taxi Driver. I had at least 3 car accidents and injured persons per day.
The phone was a really cool idea, but sometimes a bit buggy.

@brendan-toy I updated the mini-map, so it will show the pick up location too. Initially we didn't want to implement this because we though it was fun for the player to find it through the city, but maybe it's too hard this way

@ed3187 there are instructions in the description, to use the phone you have to click on it. To open the huber app, you just have to click on the huber app icon (the last one). *also you have to enable fullscreen as i said in the description, otherwise you can't see the phone*

@eudes-franco thank you for playing the whole game ^^ I tried to make the car hitboxes smaller but I think they were too small, so I just let it like this. @markus I know the problem with the phone, you have to move a bit to click accept. I tried to fix it, but i don't know what's wrong.

This game is fun; I didn't have any sound I'm not sure if that's intentional. Good game overall!

This was a fun entry. I found it to be a little frustrating at times that cars would just barrel into you, and I'm not sure if there was a way to not lose on the last night, but the gameplay itself was fun. I like the idea of a taxi-style game that didn't time you but rather made you take the long way for extra cash. Good work!

This game has an interesting concept. I enjoyed the exploration part, it took a while to find where stuff were located and the phone was a bit buggy.

The car AI was not very smart because it would just drive right into you and give you a fine. Also, it was very confusing when I picked up a customer, because I had no idea where the destination was. I drove around trying to find where to drop off the customer but I had no idea and then they left because it took too long. Maybe having a GPS or something on the phone would work, not sure if the minimap gives any details about the destination but it was hard to see, even in fullscreen.

Still, this idea has potential. Good job

@kevin-mooney yeah we didn't have time to implement the sounds&music. @morrilet we didn't have time to make 2 endings, so the cops will catch you wherever you go. @Linus actually the minimap shows you the pick up location and the destination, i don't know why you couldn't see them, maybe it's something with the resolution. We wanted the minimap to show your location too, like a gps, but i don't know yet how to do this. (We're still beginners)

Thank you all for the kind words! ^^

Hey thanks for rating CornWars - Just played your game live on stream and left a rating.

You should check your colliders. People walking next to the road collide with cars on the road...

An interesting idea, could really become a top game with additional polish. I didn't quite see where the theme came in though and some audio wouldn't have gone amiss.
