made by Dumivid for LD 42 (COMPO)

You know that story, your toxic family member won't leave you alone and try to interact with you with the best intentions, but this time you will defend yourself.

Push this people from your expanding safe zone, you need some space to live. The more you let them in your life, the more anxious you become. Now, it's time to stop.

Try your best to manage them, all out at once, or at least to save as much sanity as you can.

Control:

You can't

Move/Fight/Cast fireballs

SO WHAT CAN I DO TO PROTECT MY SELF?

You can resist. Each family member has a "key" to push them away. Be with the flow and follow instructions.

Just to be sure, if someone encounter any critical bugs (like black screens) let me know pls, I'll try to fix as fast as i can. Thx.

Worked fine for me.

This is a really neat idea. It has a nice gentle slope to let users figure everything out while it ramps up.

Art is nice and consistent, music is a bit simple but gets the job done.

It's an interesting take on the theme too, nice work!

That was a fine interpretation of the theme and a nicely done game.

The mechanics are easy to understand, yet they represent a challenge in no time. As well, the graphics and the sounds improve the game experience as they seem fit for the task.

Good job!

@beelzeboss So you get and felt the idea of hard IRL management.

Great idea, with the different buttons and all. I'm sure if I was a drummer or a pianist I would have killed it.
Still got to mantain over 2/3 of my sanity though, so I think I'm fine.
Congratz on your game.

Hey, that's a pretty fun idea you got there. I especially like how you used the idea of having to type a sentence to actually repel someone, while some had to be fought with basic interactions. It's a cool game, great job !

My hands hurt while spamming B and all the stuff!
Nice game! If there were more families with random spawn, it would be more intense.
By the way, family images looks really creepy...

Fun game. Clear instructions and easy to understand. I like how different members need different controls which adds a little bit of challenge. Would've been even more challenging if the controls or the positions of other members changed randomly every time you play it.

Wow, this was a hard game! Interesting take though. I need more hands!

Hard but funny game. It's interesting how you made fun of those moments. The variety of keys/concepts to throw away the family members is a pretty good idea for a jam. By the way, with the last member, when you have to say "Leave me alone!" uses the microphone? I don't have any connected, so I don't know it.
Also family members seem like Reigns (the game) cards, and they are so cool.

My record is 43212 ^-^

Good entry, man!

Thank you all for feedback.

@siridakis Nah, you literally just have just to try like 3-4 times, the game it’s hard only because you get surprised by new mechanism, not because new mechanics are hard.

@demn Sneaky and very “evil” when you have to drop in panic all control and type the sentence, and then reorganize in little time your fingers. What a mad men am I.

@r3c0d3r Creepiness for the feelings, you cannot reject “good people”. And yes, maybe more members would be nice, but we all know how easy it is to over scope a game, some times less its more.

@keyurrana As a game jam prototype, I do not think so. People usually do not play same game more than 2-3 times so I just created 1 good 60 seconds experience. One ticket ride.

@freso Only if you have less than 2 ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°).

@dragojt No, just to type with keyboard. I know, the better way would be “Type: Leave me alone”, but I preferred to way to let people a little bit confused.

@awix The music was randomized, not a big fan of music editors.

Good game, I really like the idea. Actually I shout "Leave me alone!" but she didn't. Not sure if anyone can type that while spaming b's. That was fun to play, good job!

Nice concept, I think it's such an original idea and you found a nice way to add complexity to the game, even that it's quite easy to win. The art and music are also pretty good and clean. Good job!

I had fun playing. Managed to win with having all my sanity points in the end. I know it's been said before but I wish there was an indication that I needed to type the phrase out rather then speak it out.

Great concept, and a very well made game! I feel like the grid didn't really work as a background, but I really loved the frantic feel, and it feels awesome to just get into a rhythm of pressing the right buttons in the right patterns!

Thx for your attention and comments, I appreciate it.

@dark-roast-studios know, the game its the work of the devil to make people to suffer from finger pain, lol.

@thedouche I prefer hardcore games, so I make myself hardcore games.

@mustiman You can, when “Leave me alone” appear, the game slow down, so if the “character” it’s far enough, you have the time.

@swini You mean keyboard & mouse.

@necromic Lol. Idk why but I laugh every time when I see the part with “horrible family” in your comment. And I would not say horrible, for many, this its average :/.

@paulo-augusto Not perfect, but at least entertaining and for the most, a fresh hardcore air.

@mcarrera You can’t actually lose, you just win more or win less. In addition, if you find my game easy you might have very good reaction or adaptability, nice for you.

@rosden I know, but I tried to make at least one “aha, I get it” moment, so I spelled SAY instead of TYPE.

@speedysloth99 I struggled a lot with background and in the end I decide just to take something very neutral with some minimal fit.

@chaitae Yeah, I did not made a good game, I a good and authentic game experience. I wished the audio could be better.

Nice concept, hard to press all the keys during the first test! Graphically it's simple and good, music is fine, but it lacks an end screen with the score and the opportunity to replay! a nice little game!

I don't want to say the concept is too fun because of the subject matter, but regardless it's an interesting take and the gameplay works with it!

Pretty cool well polished game, I didn't find it that enjoyable (was just too stressed trying to do all the inputs lol) but still could appreciate it, worked well and looked/sounded nice.

I smiled when I saw your preview image for the game. I love the concept and the art really drives it home. I played it twice and then let it just run the 3rd time so I could read what they were saying. I think the pink, orange text is too dark to see (could only read them after they slowed down and near me), and the text in general is a wee bit too small considering the speed they're going (didn't get a chance to the see the last dark red person's message at all). It's a great idea to have kept your game short (something I should keep in mind myself, when the next LD rolls around). Replaying games is way more fun than struggling through them.

Thanks for sharing this game, I enjoyed it.

Yet again, thx to all for playing my game, now about ur feedback.

@robowarrior1982 You mean this screen, lol.
http://prntscr.com/kjbns8

@shp I made an interactive experience like horror games, but instead of fear its anxiety (or w/e).

@coomzy Its hard to enjoy being f**kt when you don’t like it. Some do, some don’t.

@jerripo Yeah, I realized too that 2-3 minute games play and feels much better than 20 minute walking around with no clue (like my first LD game). About text, that was half-intentioned, half my bad. It was supposed to be difficult to read because of speed, not because of font or color, sorry for that. Thx again for playing.

@korso At least you get the idea that you have to write, “Leave me alone”, consider that a merit. In addition, yes, I am a little devil who like to make people suffering, and funny enough, some people enjoy this. JK, I just make games.

@inateno You have to write it, not saying. That was kinda the point, to get the idea that you have to write down, but maybe it was not enough obvious. I should re reconsider what to put there.

- Simple multi-task challenge.
- Consistent and good art style
- Perfect music to overall mood of the game
- Scary and funny family members :D

Cons:
- None :)

OMG this game is so cool haha. I love the concept, very busy with the control, but Im glad the controls werent random. Also like the small details about each family member. It is a fun game, and the controls staying the same allow players to get better at this. I literally screamed LEAVE ME ALONE, thinking that you get audio input for that. Still dead. It was probably too small. Again! LEAVE ME ALONE. STILL DEAD. WHYYYYY hahaha.

A very interesting entry overall, great work! Sometimes after a play I just see all black and the end screen isnt shown, maybe a bug?

Great use of multitasking, simple but good and coherent visuals and music!
When prompted with the LEAVE ME ALONE scream thing I didn't know what to do besides type it, did I have to scream in the mic at 3AM? ;D Or perhaps was it that I had to type it in uppercase?

I'd have loved a little bit more content as I felt it was a bit too simple, but it worked nonetheless!
Really nice job!

Much appreciation. In addition, yes, I tried all games from all users on comment section.
@p1nkmaria @stefan-jovanovic

@valter Secure by typing.

@nam-nguyen Indeed, must be a bug. The game isn’t so fun to play, but at least it triggers very strong good or bad emotions to most of the people, and that is the only think that matter.

@talops I always prefer to lack content in exchange to quality, overscope it’s a bitch at each game jam so I try to never forget about her. And no, no need for uppercase, just simple type.

@void-productions I think I need a research for how many people scream and how many type at the end.
