Bulletproof Strategy by Sangar

Intro

Bulletproof Strategy is an attempt of crossing a Shmup with an RTS. Super light on the RTS bit, but hey.

It's also kind of an endless runner I guess, because there's no actual end... There might be a bit of ARPG in there too, because you can find and equip new weapons. And permanent powerups. Oh, right, it's a roguelite, too, did I mention that? You have one life. If you die, the run ends. So all in all, I'm pretty hopeful some combination of two of those is incompatible in some way! And if that's not enough, the UI "genre" wonderfully clashes with the ingame graphics.

What works

You have a mothership that is followed by a couple of minions. The mothership has 4 weapon slots. Equipped weapons can be fired using the left mouse button. Minions can be commanded by holding down the right mouse button. Enemy carriers and hives can drop equipment, i.e. weapons or powerups. You'll see a UI when you get close enough to a pickup. Once all hives are destroyed, you will proceed to the next level.

Enemies follow patrol paths, spawn their own minions and attack based on proximity. Performance should be pretty good with no massive hitches or such (added pooling as one of the first things), and thanks to Unity being pretty good at batching sprites, even with tons of bullets flying around things should continue to run smoothly. I guess it shows that I'm primarily a programmer when it's easier to mention things that are nicely implemented vs. things that are nice gameplay-wise. Oh well.

What is missing

Alas, I couldn't quite cram in all I planned to. Notably missing are: - Music - More enemy variety - More follower variety - More weapon types - More power up types - Add a grace timer before ending the level when destroying the last hive to allow looting it... - Levels actually getting harder >_> - In the same vein, loot actually getting better... - The actual name in the title screen... gah.

Conclusion

First time trying to do this, please be gentle :3 But if you give it a spin, I'd be happy to know what you think.

Note: the Linux and Mac builds have not been tested, I don't have the means to at hand, I'm afraid.
