Milgram by Kortuga

[raw]
made by Kortuga for LD34 (COMPO)
THEME: TWO BUTTON CONTROLS

**POST-COMPO EDIT**
Thanks N427 for Oculus Rift support! You can download the Rift-compatible
version of Milgram here: http://www.numeralien.com/MilgramRift.zip

This is Milgram, a game about pressing one button or the other button. There are three endings to find.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Just follow the given orders (if you want) and click on things (by centering them on the screen and clicking) to interact with them (Buttons, chairs, doors, etc.). WASD to move, and you can hold down ESC to free the mouse cursor.

!!WARNING!!
The web player is a little slow! If you get a white screen, just give it a
second to load. If you don't have a stellar internet connection, please
consider downloading the game to play. The .zip is about 20MB (Mostly
audio).

!!WARNING!!
This game contains cinematics that include flashing lights and patterns. If
those are things that make you upset in any way, you have been warned.

!!WARNING!!
This game contains crappy voice acting, which includes some cussin'.

There are two "normal" endings and one SUPER SECRET ENDING. Comment below if you found it!

**IF YOU GET A WHITE SCREEN ON THE WEB BUILD, IT'S LOADING (GIVE IT A SEC)!**

EDIT: First-night voting's over for me; thanks to everyone who rated and commented, and thanks for all the positive feedback, it really means a lot!

Amazing! I am hesitant to spoil what I found. I don't think I found the super secret ending. Maybe. There was a long speech and I really didn't know what was going to happen and then.. !

That was, without a doubt, one of the coolest LD entries I've ever played. Just extremely cool all around - reminded me a lot of games like The Stanley Parable.

Need to play other games, but I'm definitely coming back to try and get more endings!

Only complaint was, ya, the controls/clicking was a little clunky at times. Took me a while to get myself sitting down :P

I really liked this. I didn't get to explore all the endings, but it's pretty good. The only issue is that the controls are a bit tough on the web version, especially when you can't see your mouse cursor. I'm sure it's a limitation of the web version though, so no worries. But all good! Thanks for putting this together!

I found your secret ending.
I'm not a big fan of this kind of plots, but the game is not bad, good job. Also, nice mood.

Solid idea. And I deff agree on downloading it to make things faster, but having the web option there is nice. Not much "gameplay" really here. Made me think of a watered down Stanley parable maybe.

Nice Work.

Classic experiment (might have taken it too far thought), but you missed the impact of having an authority figure in a white coat with a clipboard give you the test.

Also needs an aiming crosshair/dot, interaction highlighting or a bump into to get onto chair thing.

This is awesome! Great take on the theme.
It could be a bit more dramatic in the end and the mouse input wasn't clear enough. At first I ran around the room trying to sit down. However you can only sit down if you're behind the chair. That was a bit confusing. Maybe just add a point in the center of the screen with a mouse symbol when you can click something.

I already knew about the experiment, so I was kind of expecting most of what I saw in the game (!!!), but still, I LOVE the entry: you've taken a deep, interesting topic, applied a very fitting mechanic and created a very solid entry, with awesome voice acting. Congratulations!

I really liked your game, and how it looks and sounds.
The first time I played, I only had my left earphone in my ear, so I didn't get what was going on.

I replayed the game while writing this comment, because it bugged me, that I only found two endings...
Guess whose Humor score just went up to 5 stars!!!!

Dude, you heared that a lot but this is awesome. So far my favourite.

It might not be the game with the most complicated code or the best 3D Models but that doesn't really matter, does it? You did a great job on the voice acting, it didn't get boring just listening to you and well, the secret ending blew my mind ... I was not expecting that.

Story games like this one always impress me. I have no idea how people manage to find the time to write stories during the short time in the jam. I would definitely recommend that everyone tries to find all 3 endings, or else you won't really appreciate this. One suggestion would be to be able to skip some dialogue you've already listened to.
