Candy Overlord by citsua

You're a kid, and it's Halloween. You know what you got to do: knock at your neighbors' doors and get as much candy as you can!

That would be a piece of cake for any kid, but your street attracts a lot of nasty monsters. Cherry on the cake, you forgot your candy bag at home and you have to eat all the candy you get on the spot.

That... may cause problems. Mommy warned you; eating too much candy isn't good for your health!

Controls: - WASD to move around - The rest is explained ingame - You can rebind the controls when launching the game (go to the "Input" tab)

The world record (courtesy of my friend) is 1m23s for the 100 candies. Just try and beat that!

Haha, such a cool game. Very impressive that you did it on your own. I actually laughed when i went big and rolled around, really funny! Chimney gag too, surprising. The basics work very well, i like the mechanic. It is also really cute, with the speech bubbles. I think i can move faster when pressing two arrow keys. Using space, arrows and mouse is not really convenient, i'd need 3 hands or switch constantly. Maybe you created it with a laptop, but for keyboard+mouse it is too much. Oh, and i wish there were some sound effects, it adds so much to the mood, which you present so well graphically. Overall, very nice game, good job :)

@rongo-matane : Thank you so much for your feedback! Actually, the game is meant to be played using WASD, not the arrow keys. That way the controls make more sense! But you're right, I should have written that somewhere.

Fun! I enjoyed the physics component to this, especially since the head of the character prevents you from moving like a perfect sphere - added nice challenge to this.

Hehe, really funny and good-looking too!
There were a few issues with movement, it often was very stuttery and once I got caught on that fence of the house on the hill, which caused me to be a floaty boy...and I couldn't get to any of the houses down below :(
I'd say maybe turn the ghost speed down a bit, I found it a little difficult. But still fun!

@zirrrus : that happened to me too when I played the game fullscreen, but doesn't happen when I play it windowed. Don't know why though... So maybe that's the reason
Were you already transformed into a ball when that happened?
Thanks everyone for your feedback

@citsua Yeah, I was playing full-screen and I'm pretty sure I was still a normal boy when I started floating. Weird bug...but starting over is quickly done, so it's not too bad :)

Nice game, I love the art style too. The controls were a bit difficult and a little frustrating when it wouldn't go where I tried to go, but I'm sure it's a thing you can get used to. I missed sound a little bit, but it wasn't a big issue.

Cutscenes are maybe a bit buggy, but gameplay is solid, witch projectiles are a bit out of the general style.

I enjoyed the game, it made me laugh when I first flew out of the chimney. Like some previous comments said I think sound effects would work a treat! Congratulations! :beers:
