Welcome to Love Machine! The rootinest, tootinest, side-scrolling-shootinest dating simulator around!

... At least, it would be, if it were finished.

This is as far as I managed to get before the deadline. It doesn't have any proper gameplay (although the movement is pretty nifty). Still, I put so much work into the rest of the game that I thought it would be a shame not to upload it, especially seeing as my friend - the wonderful Mr Brooks - was kind enough to make music for it.

What are the controls...? Just use the mouse!

If you're confused as to how the 'dating simulator' portion plays into it, don't be: If the game had been completed, it would have tasked you with wooing your enemy (picking correct dialogue options based on their personalities, etc.) whilst dodging bullets and hitting weak points. In addition, your 'Love-o-Meter' (your enemy's attraction level) would also act as your health, making the two elements inseparable.

Finally, once you had managed to expose your foe's heart, you'd be able to blast it with your final shot, C.U.P.I.D.'s arrow, and win the day!

Even with the game as it is right now, I hope you enjoy 'playing' it!

I really liked what was there. The graphics and the animations looked really good and the movement of the ship felt nice specially together with the music. The dialog explaining the whole situation was a nice touch, too bad you were not able to finish the project in time, three days goes by fast. I hope you get around to finish it sometime now after the jam.

This looks amazing! The sprites all have very high quality and the "ship" controls pretty neatly. The writing and characters are pretty cool too and its a shame that there is no real "game" part to this. But you can clearly tell that a lot of work has been but into this! Good job!

The graphics were far and wide the best i have seen of the jam so far. That being said it is indeed a shame that there is no gameplay. Good luck on your next jam! Looking at this it should be good.

i had some problems with the font. english is not my first language and the text change realy fast, i usually have no problems while reading, but the font has some weird letters and i needed to read a word more than once, because of that the text change without me being able to read everything.

Okay so no joke, this is something I said during the conception of my team's space shooter-dating sim hybrid:

Anyway, despite having no gameplay you excelled in the pixel art and humor. The music is pretty great too. I would love to see a full game out of this.

Even though unfinished your game gave me a very good impression! Nice graphics, good music and interesting ideas. I really liked how the characters ironized over the unfinished state of the game xD Keep developing the concept and you might get a good game!

Even without any gameplay, this game managed to put a huge smile on my face. The music and art are top-notch and the dialogue is hilarious! I hope you continue developing this game.

I really enjoyed this. I know there isn't technically anything to do, but I did enjoy the scenery and the music is pretty rad. I really enjoyed the dialog also and when Sgt Salt popped up Valentine's reaction was the same as mine.

I did love the controls. I'd be excited if you finished it, even if it was just a single enemy. The description intrigued me.

I hope you'll finish what you've started because the graphics and music are beautiful. This game deserves the gameplay you wanted to create for it!

I've never seen a game that developed so much stuff without any core gameplay, it turned out pretty hilarious
