A week ago I had a dream about panning for gold with Oprah, this is the game inspired by that dream.

Claim territory and gold in competition with computer players. Challenge them to duels to the death.

Be the last prospector standing.

Click to interact, choose the tile you want to claim, clear, or challenge.

PreDuel.PNG

Claim - Claim the gold on the tile as yours Clear - Remove debris from the tile, this must be done before capturing Challenge - Challenge an enemy to a duel. If they decline you automatically claim or clear that tile. If they accept then you fight to the death Dueling - There is a count to 3 and then the word "DRAW" will show on screen. Click anywhere before your opponent to kill them, freeing up all of their territory. Lose the duel and lose your life.

Winning - Have the most gold when all land is claimed or kill all your opponents

Really cool approach, the little showdown minigame is cool too. Nice one.

Great dream/idea! you might improve the game by adding some more minigames(other than the challenge one), meaby for collecting gold or something. Good job.

I buried them where they fell, with their boots on... I never expected the gold fever would make such a monster of me but I had no qualms about shooting first. Simple but neat and surprisingly deep mechanic, along with a strong theme and mood, made this very enjoyable. The minigames were a nice touch but I felt that if you'd had time, just a little polish here would have gone a long way (eg. gunshots and death animations).

Challenge always declined, unless the AI is on that square or you challenge there cabin.

If you have an itchy trigger finger, the challenge/duel is abit easy :)

The AI dont seem to duel each other and are very passive, even with 8. If the AI cannot reach an open square it will pass its turn.

random music blips in every now and again.

Fun game though on first playthrough.

@lukel Didn't have time to make up a decision process for AI to initiate duels, would have liked to though. Some AI will accept a duel if you challenge them more than X times, and Oprah will always accept a duel unless she has way more gold than you. Also meant to make some harder than others but didn't get to tweaking the numbers.
Couldn't get the music to play and didn't have time to work it out, adding a link to the desired music to the description.

You killed this theme, could be an interesting strategy game down the line.

you had me at "panning for gold with oprah"

this is a cool take on the theme--sure, the showdowns are easy, but it's a jam game :) really obvious that you could polish this up into something fun if you wanted !

interesting take on the theme, which is always nice  and nice to see something turn based, too. I loved the character animation, and there were no obvious bugs or anything! The duels were a little easy, though - or maybe I just have incredibly good reflexes? They were easy, but a really nice change of pace and I appreciated them. Overall, really good job! You should be pleased with that

A good take on the idea of running out of space.
- I really enjoyed the amount of effort put into the animations
- I think there were some sound effects but my headset might've been too low to hear it.
- Liked the camera follow but for some reason after I started getting more tiles it became a little difficult maintain a steady view in order for me to click on different tiles
- I was able to corner the NPC and take majority of the spaces!!!!

Great game and amazing job for putting this together!!!! :)

That was fun. The only downside is the lack of music in this game. And the naming the character thing made the game buggy.

@raccoon-js What kind of bugs did you see related to naming? Wasn't aware of anything with that but I definitely didn't test that aspect thoroughly.

Doesn't seem to work on google Chrome: stuck on number of player selection.
Work fine on Firefox

Had a lot of fun playing this. Reminded me of the map in Turmoil but with collecting gold and killing opponents. One of my favorite games this time. It's a shame there is no sound.

I haven't discovered any deeper mechanic apart from choosing which tile to step on during my playthgrough, which is a shame, I think it would help the game a lot. Also the duel would be much better if there was some more feedback apart from (not so well readable) UI, but I get it was probably out of time scope. The artstyle is however really stylish and animation is well done, so my overall experience was definitely positive! Thanks for that and keep it up!

I like the concept a lot. the mechanics are great and tobe honest pretty intuitive. I was a little overwhelmed at first but then it is pretty easy to get in play. I miss the music and sounds but it is a nice game anyways. Good job!

I almost won my first game against 4 opponents, but the last one caught me offguard and killed me :c

Really nice game, too bad you didn't have time to put in the music

Although I couldn't get the game to start the first couple of attempts, when I got it to work it was really fun to play! Also really original at that, well done!
