I had a blast working on this solo! Needs sound and music, and a few bug fixes. Hopefully can get it submitted soon! :)

Update 3: (Since I'm unsure if there's a way to reply to comments on here) Things that were intended to be implemented but I ran out of time:
1) Upgrade system for cargo hold: Intended to be a 4x3 grid, upgrading to a total of 6x7 (which is 42 by the way). This would allow for tougher decisions on cargo that you have to scrap, as well as more "large size" and up containers the longer you play.
2) Refueling and repair stations at least at space stations and earth, possibly all the planets where you collect/drop off cargo.
3) Pictures for the cargo cards, cargo boxes that aren't just colored squares.
4) More random encounters, possibly actual combat with the space pirates.
5) "Galactic Hitchhikers" originally intended to go into a separate "Passenger Quarters" area, which will also have a few upgrades.
6) Sounds and music. I played around with SFXR and Bosca Ceoil before the jam started, but again, time was an issue for me.
7) Better "non-programmer" graphics :)
8) If you haven't noticed, there are a few "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" references in this thing, because 42.
9) I was also intending to include a stylized "-1" that flew off of the nav map HUD every time you took damage, just for fun because a lot of people suggested "-1" should be the theme this time around :)
Things that really still need to be done: 1) Bug fix for the game SHOULD end AS SOON AS you run out of fuel/hull/credits or exceed 1 million credits, but for some reason it takes another move or 2 sometimes

And it would be interesting if the map had several paths between which the player could decide.

I also found something. It's nothing major but I could move the "cargo" before it was in the ship. Was it intentional?
Anyways, great entry with fun tetris-like gameplay that only needs some audio to be even better. Nice job.
I *DO* intend to flesh out some ideas a bit more and put up a follow up on the itch.io page once it's updated, for anyone who might be interested in that.
@schasm Initial idea was to start with a 3x4 cargo hold size that you have to buy upgrades for, and/or bigger ship, so that cargo is harder to fit. Also, the longer you play, it was intended (but not implemented) to have a higher chance to get larger sized cargo so it's even harder to fit it all in your ship

@mattincho I like the idea of being able to select more than 1 cargo
@bladesides I haven't thought about Resident Evil in a LOOONG time, but you're right, it DOES remind me of turning that first aid spray to make it fit beside things lol
@fingamer You're definitely NOT supposed to be able to move the cargo before it's in the ship. Also I noticed on my playthroughs that sometimes you can see some already placed cargo when you get to a new area to pick up cargo (it's between the cargo selection cards)
Thanks everyone who has played / rated so far, and I'll DEFINITELY play and rate any that I've not already done (I got quite a few in, then I had to pass out) :)
My playthrough ended once i ran out of fuel, but from what I could play of it, I feel there's a pretty solid concept there. I highly encourage making a post-compo version now that things have cooled down. Play around with it a bit more, I think there's a lot of potential!
Good game overall, lots of potential to build from on the idea.
That was really nice, liked the graphic things a lot in that section where I was going to different planets. I would have wished for some music, but that was still a very good. I always like tetris block games :D

Would be nice to place the cargo with mouse instead of arrow keys.

I would like more control over the random events that occur during the travels. Like in FTL and paradox games, you always have different options to choose from. Something like that.
I think this game would work best as a board game.
I leave humor unrated as the game is not going for that approach.
Overall the game fits the theme well. Graphics are clear and functional. Gameplay is solid and the idea is nice.

@roman-petrov Right on! I never had a Spectrum, being from the US here, but I watch a lot of gaming videos and have heard good things about them :)

I will say however, that the gameplay was unrewarding, and that everything was too fast. For example, when you click start at the beginning, the game was instantly there. I would have made it ade in and out a bit.
