Getting Some Space by Qazikol

[raw]
made by Qazikol for LD 42 (COMPO)

Cover Image.png

Getting Some Space is a short work about feeling reassured by your insignificance. It's also my first LD submission!

For the bulk of the project, I used Unity (though it hardly fits the project), Photoshop and TV Paint.

Please give me all your criticism. Some really horrible, nasty stuff.

Don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but can't figure out the controls.

@jackou Ahh, sorry; forgot to put that in the description! Or game...
It's just the spacebar for everything!

I'm really unsure what I'm playing? it looks good and sounds good but I'm not sure what I was doing

LOVE the aesthetic! The hand drawn characters/animation/background with the music creates a very mellow atmosphere. Very cool little story game. Not exactly sure I know what is going on or if I get the backstory from it, but very cool nonetheless.

A very different concept of what a game is, glad to see such an entry here.

The art looks beautiful, and while short, the music makes for a really relaxing experience.

Very beautiful. Not super fun, which probably isn't the point. But I love the art style and the mood the music gives.

@cobear25 Yeahh, ahah; if I could've opted out of "Fun" then I would've, as off-putting as that may have been :')

Short, but very sweet! Honestly, I was a little blown away when the guitar came in. Something about the transition caught me by surprise and really struck a wonderful feeling. Fantastic job.

I think it's really beautiful. It's very soothing and I really love the traffic sounds. Great to see this kind of entry!

I admit I didn't "get it" at first, but I came around. The art is really pleasing, and you do an excellent job of invoking a mood. I wish there was a little more feedback that hitting space bar actually does anything (some vignettes were more clear than others).

@rumor Ahah, yeahhh; the idea was meant to be that the impact of your actions would decrease with each new vignette to help communicate the whole "comfort in the insignificance of yourself and your actions" theme, but then even the first one allowed very little interaction, so that progression didn't really work...

Pretty different game. Art and sound design is amazing.

I really liked that original piece of mellow storytelling, and liked how you varied the control even with just the one key. Great art style too. :)

Nice work. Refreshing and one of the few games that has simple controls ... really simple.
Keep up the good work. Would love to experience more of these.

Calm and very personal. I really like these narrative pieces and wish people would make more. I really wish it was longer though <3 Does it really end after the stars?

So I guess that's it?

It's a nice sentimental piece. Great art and music.

I can't argue that it's not a game :)

I loved the audio. It was sweet and complemented the feeling of the piece really well.
