Escape! by Damoy
Here's the little game I made, in Java, from scratch :D. I used paint.net for textures, Eclipse as IDE and some old sounds I got. You have a limited amount of power and have to use it, in a tricky way, to escape this kind of jail.
Hope you'll have some fun !

Keep moving forward.
Also, I'm commending that you made this completely from scratch! I wanted to do the same but I quickly trashed the idea, as this was my first Compo and LD in general and I didn't want to take any risks :/
Anyway, GJ with this one!

Thanks for being part of the stream :)
What at first glance seemed to be an optimisation puzzle soon turned out to be a pattern-based bullet dodging game, and it's not a bad thing! It's interesting how, despite the same mechanics, different levels gave various gameplay styles. Up-down only shooting was a brilliant idea and difficulty was just right. I gave up on level nine, because I had no solution to the leftmost enemies.
Please add the same build as Linux and macOS versions, as jars will work on them just as well. Thanks for making this!
Still the game managed to catch my attention and it was fun but level 8 was just too hard for me. The timings needed to be really precise and after dying on the same level over and over I gave up so maybe a level selector or level skipper could be implemented so I can check out all the levels :)
Good job overall though!
And to answer your questions over on my jam page, the 3000 views for the flash game is because it's on Newgrounds, a popular site for flash games, that everyone can play. It was even posted on the front page which means more exposure, and it's just me, no team. It was all made in under 73 heck a lot of stuff got cut from the finished product, like cutscenes and some levels.
Nice level design, good obstacles, make you stop and plan before moving.
