Ludum Dare Notes

Thank you so much for checking out our game. We had a great time making it and Ludum Dare is always such a great experience for our team. All of our design, code and content was made during the course of the competition, except for the lava texture, a few plugins and maybe a property drawer or two pulled from previous projects we’ve worked on.

Pretty cool concept! The audiovisual aspects of the game were very polished, and they all blended together to make a medieval theme. My only problem with this game is that it didn't register my key presses immediately, making it a little more difficult to control (I was playing on the webport, so that may have slowed it down a bit.). Great job!

Really fun! The tiles disappearing feel well implemented; its a good amount of warning and the visual cue is really clear.

The graphics and audio in the game are gorgeous. Exceptionally well put together! My only gripe is that if all remaining players fall into the lava at the same time, one of them is still somehow the winner. It would be nice to see a tie?

That said, solid 5/5 entry!

This is incredible, especially for 72 hours. The camera moves around a bit much for my tastes. Amazing!

This was a great game concept, the only issue I had was similar to OrionDark7, it seemed like my key presses didn't immediately register, which led to some unfortunate losses lol. Another thing I would suggest is making the menu continue with an on screen button, the first time I played I didn't know who I was because the slow key registration made me kinda mash the enter button and I didn't see your otherwise well executed join menu.

Very nice, would love to play this against some buddies. Audio is a bit strange but the rest of the game is nice.

Also the web version doesn't seem to go beyond the controls UI.

@oriondark7 Thanks for the feedback! I'm sorry you found the input kind of "mushy" if you will, but that was sort of intended (for better or for worse haha). It was an early design decision we made to make staying on the tiles a little more challenging, but we do wish we had had a bit more time to make it feel just right. If you get a chance, we strongly suggest you try playing with an xbox/ps4 controller and a couple friends!

@fizzpowmike1 @plepletier Thanks for trying the game out! It seems like there are quite a few people out there that would prefer the input be a little more responsive haha. I'll bring that up with the team and maybe we'll submit some tweaks for all of you :v:. I hope you guys give it another shot when we do (and with a gamepad if you have one)!

@darkguardsman Thanks for giving the game a try! If you get a chance to play with a couple friends, let us know how it goes! We find that we have the most fun in our office with 4 people and a few gamepads.

A lot of fun! I disagree with comments saying movement should be instant/snappy, having some momentum adds to the game's feel. Sound is good aside from the 'guh!' which can be annoying (but with the time limit of a game jam it is understandable)

Really fun and well polished! I'm currently not able to play with others, but the AI was pretty good!

Hey @colin-doody and crew, it's that former RIT student that keeps bugging you guys at your Wulverblade booths to tell you how cool your game is haha. This came out awesome! I love the concept, art, and music, great job executing on the multiplayer!

The graphics and audio were phenomenal, nice work on that! Very funny game too and bonus points for controller support! My only complaint is on my 4k monitor the play space was very small. I'm not sure if having a larger window would help or if zooming in on the action would be better. Regardless, that's a small gripe with a great game. Congrats!

Very fun, like the fact that it has a wide range of support, be it input method or player amount. Found the controls rather difficult though.

Good job! It was very fun, but the controls was a little complicated (I guess it's the formula for people to try to master it). The graphics was good and the sound was excellent. I would like to try it with friends. Congratulations guys!

This is an ineradicable entry! I am always astonished when people create something with such a high level of polish and quality for a Ludum Dare.

I really appreciated the fact that I could play against AI opponents and being able to play with the GamePad made all the difference.

This is really one you and your team can be proud of, well done!

Nice graphics. Unfortunatelly i had noone around to play with me. When i tried to play this i had problem to find out which one am i controlling. Maye if player had to choice their color on it's own then it would be a little easier?

If only these little guys can stop for a bit, it would be great (also may be too easy). The game is fun but hard for me, however, I think it just takes some time to master it. What makes it hard for me is that controls aren't tight so it is hard to navigate narrow area. I only tried the single player mode but the AI is strong enough to defeat me every time anyway. The aesthetics and sound effects are really nice but the dying sound of the players is really funny. The game already has a nice variety of levels with diverse designs and would really make a fun party game. Well done.

Good concept, well presented. I appreciate the provision of AI opponents, even though its mostly intended for multiplayer. That's a good decision in terms of Ludum Dare, as a pure multiplayer game would maybe not get many judging results no matter how good due to a smaller pool of players (i.e those who can organize some others to play with)

Man those vikings are cute! I like the whole things. Only issue I encountered is on the level where you fall through to the next one, if you land on a crate (the bots at least) completely bug out.

Reminds me of those party games like Move Or Die, which are always very popular. Consider moving forward with this project, maybe.

Really nice game, and good matching music. Building co-op game is quite a challenge. Well done. What is Bjorp?

I dont have friends so I play alone, the AI was not bad at all, they don't seem to just randomly run off the edge, and because Im a terrible gamer, the AI keep winning haha. Maybe you can add a level of AI intelligence so I could experience the win for once LMAO. Anyhow, a great coop game, I might get back to this when I make some new friends after this LD

@tomeks it's a completely made up word haha. You could interpret "Bjorp" to be the game the vikings are playing or perhaps the kingdom in which they live. The lore is sort of up in the air haha. Thanks for the feedback!

Nice work making the 1-player fun and engaging and the ai pretty smart. I see some jam games use local co-op as a crutch for replayability and creating a scalable challenge but you've really thought about us loners and made the solo experience valid and it is appreciated!

Highly polished game. Lots of fun although I wanted to please bjorp for a longer period of time. The levels are kinda samy but thats me being very nit-picky.

Great presentation, lots of polish. I apparently suck at it and didn't have much fun because of that, but the idea was great and conquered the theme -- the King would be proud. ;)

A really polished local multiplayer battle game! Great levels and mechanics! My only complaint is the keybinds, wish I could customize them, lol, but I know that's unrealistic for a LDJAM game. Would definitely love a post jam version with key customization and of course more content, and I'll play it when my friends come over. 5/5

This is one of the standouts this Ludum Dare for me so far! I think the "mushy" controls work well enough here - makes the character feel a bit out of control, which is a good thing for a party game like this.

The AI is well-implemented enough, but I'm sure the real fun here is getting the mad-cap action of 4 players in a room together.

Well done!

Fun quirky little game! I'd write up more but the comments above have more than covered it. The controls were a little tough to figure out at first, but once I had that sorted out I had fun with it. Seems like it'd be quite good with multiple players.

Thanks for a fun entry!
