Smack`Em! by mess110

The front porch owned by Critter Control has been infested though a coordinated attack by the Mole Hole Gang and things are out of control.
The Critter Control people look in the address book and search for Critter Control.. They call but the line is busy. They panic but wait: Hammer Time!
You get extra time whenever you hit a mole and loose time when you miss. The more points you have the faster things go.
Planned but out of time
- The more points you have the more mole holes you will get. Sadly, I only managed to implement a fixed number of holes
- Cinematic when Critter Control calls their own number
- Ask for highscore name (currently score is reported with guid, not name - and it is not yet visible)
- Better gamification

I enjoyed it and the feel was just right.
Thanks.
don't forget to check out my game too :)
Smacking cute little creatures is always satisfying.
Running out of time could be clearer... maybe implement a warning sound for the last three seconds or so?
Makes me think about the arcade game.
Great work for 48 hours!
Anyways, this is fun totally adorable. It is basically a wack-a-mole game that rewards accuracy rather than speed. I failed the first time in 3 seconds because I did not understand this. :-P It's a completely different wack-a-mole strategy! What !?! >_< Otherwise, the only note I'd make is better score display, maybe bigger and at the bottom. I did not even know it was there for like 3 games.
My Compo game is over here, if you want to have a look. It ALSO involves inflicting bludgeoning damage to animals, so our games have that in common. (they are evil cyborgs though, so it’s ok :-P) https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/squirrel-puncher-4000
Really nice looking game
Really nice looking game
Sadly, I cant play it with my volume up right now, so I wont rate the audio yet. Since you made it with "your trusty guitar", as you mentioned, I will definetly come back to that!!
As some already mentioned, the losing screen is too subtle. Maybe its indicated by sound that I cant hear by now. But still.
I would keep the fact that all critters are up, but I would also add some "game over" and a final score or something.
Cool! :)
Looks very good.
Anyway, good and funny game made me recall good old days.. :D
I could totally see this implemented as a minigame in a published full price title!
Also I managed 34 moles.
The sounds are very good. Simple yet coherent and very well applied.
The scanline filter made it even better, because reminded me of the 90's, playing on my old PS1. Good times... *sheds a tear*
Thumbs up for using WebGL!
The game play itself gets old fast, but in a weird way it made me want to go to the arcade and wack some moles!
Great job!
Nice job! Congratulations and good luck!
I would recommend putting some darker shapes behind the score and time, so that they are easier to see.
I didn't even notice them at my first try.
Keep up the good work!
Haha i'm really impressed, also liked the sound effects, it is really a professional work!
Congratulations on that entry (:
If you are interested, please check out my LD40 game [Escape Infection!](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/escape-infection)
Also, I was playing this on a laptop and am kind of surprised i was able to get 30+ points on a touch pad :p.
I love this graphics style and sound effects. Great reincarnation of classic Whac-a-Mole game!
Animatinos were good and the characters looked funny. Not sure about the post processing horizontal line shader, but I guess it added to the arcade feel.
Fun game. Could do with a sound effect when you miss so you nknow you did a bad thing, I was a bit confused at the beginning as to why the game was ending.
PS. Did you really play on the guitar for the sound in your game? What a hardcore, I'm impressed!
Gameplay is quite simple, you know that I think, but it works well with the theme.
Cool overall game. Keep coding !
@seannoonan there should be a reload button in the bottom left
The creatures (moles?) were cute, but I would have wished for the animations to have more variance, i.e. that one creature does not always the same thing. You made several animaitons anyway, you could just randomly switch between them.
My highscore was just 21 xD
