PixelEyes by Aniol Folch

[raw]
made by Aniol Folch for LD 43 (JAM)

Artyom has been living with the same eyes for way too many years and they are starting to fail, an upgrade is needed. Since he can't afford the last generation eyes he always dreamt of, so he will head to his last resort, Chernobyl's Black Market, where he buys a pair of eyes, apparently in perfect condition. But in the 2043's Russia things aren't that easy and mafias are still running. He bought a prototype of eyes stolen from one of the biggest eyes manufacturers company and now he is trapped in some of the calibration routines included inside the pair of eyes. Since they are a prototype some strange behaviours start showing and the resolution of his eyes start going mad.

Sacrifice your screen resolution to add pixels on objects in order to complete calibration chambers! Your lasting resolution will affect your vision and also your score the last test! Score as much points as you can and share it with us! Have fun! Follow us on twitter for more updates https://twitter.com/pixeleyes43

A very cool game. I like the idea of sacrificing screen resolution

Followed the theme really well, almost one of the best I've seen. The idea is really cool and the gameplay is fun but the spinning log is a bit weird.

The idea behind the game is very interesting, but isn't explored very much. Instead you have a mix of platforming, puzzles, and a shooting minigame? and don't get me wrong these were fun, but If you focused on one of these ideas with the resolution twist this could have been amazing. For example if you missed in the shooting game the resolution could drop, or even with the few puzzle mechanics you had you could have made a ton more puzzles. Anyway the game was fun and kept me engaged, but I was sad when I hit the ending so soon.

I like that the level is designed so you can do different things with the same mechanic. However, I'm very impatient and that elevator didn't seem to care. Nevermind, worth the waiting time for the particles at the shooting part.

Have been following the development, the idea is soooo cool! The design is well fitted with the theme, the way you can resolve the puzzles having different resolutions for the final part.

Boy, that Doom shooting range :love_letter:

@frostbyte4k We first made the shooting range but wanted to explore more possibilities with the pixel sacrifice mechanic and ended up adding those previous puzzles, sure thing the mix is a bit strange but both parts helped us finding new use for the main mechanic. Thanks for your feedback and hope you enjoyed it!

The game is pretty fun and the idea of sacrificing your resolution is really cool. The puzzles are interesting and I was motivated to play till I ended it. Congratulations!

I love the idea you guys came up with. It has some fun jokes like the donating box and.... better not spoil it for others.

The game concept was super sweet. It's not something I've seen before and it certainly puts a whole new twist on the sacrifice theme. The spinning log confused me, though, haha.
Really enjoyed playing it, congratulations!

The game idea is super interesting, and both like the sound and graphics idea. The controls was not the best, and the interaction was often really difficult. But overall a fine and interesting LD game.

A really neat concept for sure, I only wish there were more challenges to explore the various mechanics with!

The less resolution, the better the game looked! Until at certain point, I suppose :stuck_out_tongue: likely down to the simple low poly art which I loved! Perhaps a few textures would've increased the affect the change in res would've made, although it may have made it look worse.

Mechanics and controls were a little dull until the end where the shooting began, but the angle and lack of cross-hair made it rather difficult to shoot accurately. I think my score was 1150 but I restarted and may be wrong!!

The name pun alone is fantastic, great job!
