Robot Is Powerless by Swynfel

[raw]
made by Swynfel for LD 39 (JAM)

Humanity's doom has finally come. The robots have enslaved all of the remaining humans. All of them? Don't be so sure of that! We are a small group of rebels trying desperately to put an end to the robot's reign. LD3-9RIP, one of our own robots, succeeded in infiltrating the enemy's main power plant. Now he just has to get to the core and sabotage it without getting spotted! I just hope he doesn't run out of power ...

Move LD3-9RIP using the arrow keys (or WASD keys)

Press Space to wait for one turn

Press R to restart the level

PS: The screen will just go black at the end of the game, sorry about that (not a bug! just a feature ;) )

Cool concept, and nice tutorial ! It teaches the mechanic very well.

- The mechanics fit the theme.
- The music does the job, maybe the game lacks some audio feedback when you move or wait (or get killed).
- The graphics are pretty

Good job !

Solid work! The artstyle was serviceable, although I will say a bit more shading would have given it some much needed depth. Speaking of depth, I experienced a few issues with it - at certain times enemies appeared below objects they should have been on top of which messed with the perspective. The soundtrack was probably my favorite part of the experience as I think the trap-flavored and EDM inspired songs aren't seen too often in Ludum Dare entries, which usually go for something more old school. I was particularly impressed with how the tracks evolved with different little elements being added and that kept me from getting bored with them. The mechanic was fairly simple, although it did take me a bit to understand exactly how it worked. Once I did, it was all a matter of timing rather than really figuring out any meaningful puzzles, which I suppose is an amusing challenge in its own right. I did like how you mixed a puzzle game with some Roguelike mechanics and managed to fit it within the theme, though. That said, after what I assume to be the last level, the game simply went to a black screen and didn't even bother to stop the music. I'm not sure if this is a bug and there's supposed to be more, or it's just your idea of an ending. Regardless, this was a solid entry without many major issues to speak of, so good work on that front!

The puzzles are quite charming. I found trying to control your own robot while letting CPU players take care of some of the switches to be an interesting gimmick. The screen went black after the third level or so, and I'm not sure if that was the end or a crash.

Great-looking graphics! First stage was very well-designed in that it teaches the basic mechanics very clearly. I love fun little puzzle games like this. I'd really love to see it grow into a fully fledged game!

It's not a bug! Just a feature ;)

I should have added a warning in the description about the "abrupt ending". We had really no time left to finish the game.

Is there any chance we could get a Linux64 build please?

Good learning curve and meaningful settings together with fitting graphics and excellent audio track makes this pretty solid game!

Good point in innovation, nice!
I like a lot graphics theme so, nice job.
Playable mechanics are good, just having a limit of steps makes you think.
The flow of the gameplay is weird, in my opinion it has to be balanced: in the first room is so easy and you have extra steps while the second level is so hard.

Nice entry :)

Solid puzzle design & good use of the theme. Music was great too! The fact that the plates recharged me wasn't obvious at first, so some audio feedback might help make that clear. Would definitely like to see more levels, there's a lot of potential here. Nice work!

Nice work with interesting puzzles, presented well and with growing difficulty. Nice music track. I didn't know I could wait in place, which was key to level 2, so that messed me up for a while. Not really complete with so few levels, but a promising concept. I like logic puzzles like this.
