Really good idea.
Game idea is interesting and it's fun, though perhaps a bit too slow.
Some things I liked in particular:
1. Awesome music!
2. Very novel mechanic and great puzzle design
3. Funny cut-scenes and voice acting
4. Great in-game tutorial
5. So much content! It actually took me more than an hour to play through the game :)
Some problems I had:
1. Some of the in-game tutorial didn't work. For example, I didn't really need to use the DOWN button until pretty late (level 2-5 was the first time I used it), so I didn't really understand what it did when I got to 2-5 and it took me a looong time to pass that level because of this. Another example is in the beginning of world 2 where the level tried to teach you that you can get rid of mistakes - I didn't actually need to get rid of any mistakes in that level, would have been nice if it was forced on me.
2. Since the number of non-sacrificed followers is important, would be nice if that was indicated somewhere
3. Restart animation too slow - since I had to restart some levels many times it became a bit annoying after a while
4. Most levels felt very tightly designed, but few were too packed and felt like busy work. For example level 2-10 where for most of the people it's pretty obvious how to get them to the lava, but it takes a lot of time and if you accidentally make a mistake near the end you need to do it all again.
5. Encountered two annoying bugs:
* In level 1-10 the top middle follower stopped following me if I had him fall to the left (even after sacrificing all other followers)
* In level 3-8 I first tried to solve without using the ice. I made the right guy a follower and tried to get him to jump without falling myself. Eventually we both fell, and I got the "too many followers" message and the game was stuck (couldn't even restart the level). It's a good thing you had "Shift+N" implemented because it allowed me to restart the game and skip to the level I was in.
Anyway, great work, really liked playing the game!
Good Job!
I really liked the tutorial levels! Most people don't make any tutorial, from what I've seen so far – probably because of time limitations – but I'm glad your team managed to prioritize it as it makes learning to use the game easy and fun.
I think I ran into a bug during level 1-6 btw. I messed up and failed, but when I pressed shift+R, it just repeated followers death screams. :D Funny effect though.
It's really well done and the idea is great!
Jumping and movement felt weird at times, especially around ledges. I suspect this is something weird in your collusion resolution, but it's not super critical since the game largely doesn't require precise movement.
Intro was a nice touch, but a "skip" might have been nice to have.
It feels a bit weird to fail by having too many followers (but not sacrificing them. I think I see why you did this, but maybe an alternative solution would be to have a "finish" or "exit" spot, and if you can make it there without accidentally sacrificing more than the required number, you can still progress. Level design could prevent this from ever occuring, but at least then it feels "fair", which I feel is an important aspect in a puzzle game.
- I agree with most of what Matank said.
- Like ynneblack said subtitle could help to catch some phrase for some non people non fluent in English.
- Let the combination of keys to unzoom written somewhere would be good. I often pressed ctrl+r instead of ctrl+z :'(.
- New mechanics were introduce very well.
- Fun sounds and good voices ;).
- Some level were really good.
Good job!
