tl;dr: wait for the tape to rewind, hit [space] to pause at the start. Comment your score below.

For people of my generation the ancestors to the flash drives and cds of today may seem like ancient technology. The VHS tape feels like an incredibly bulky way to store data.

In this game you can go back to the most tedious way to reset a medium: rewinding. A "clip" will be played (some humorous comments about vhs tapes) at the end (maximum 6 seconds) it will be rewinded at double the speed. Your goal is to pause by hitting [space] at the exact start of the video and not go too far into the title screen. After you get your rank hit any key to try again.

This Ludum Dare was my first ld. I have wanted to take part quite some time now sadly I never had the time. Even this competition I only had 3 1/2 hours to make this game so I hope it isn't too terrible for a first timer and under time pressure :)

Rank C! 482ms aint' too shabby if I say so myself!

I had some trouble running this in chrome, hitting space just scrolled down the page. Firefox works fine though. Good job!

Nice! It is now fixed in chrome and I also tested it on edge and opera, all good. Also it is embedded now.

Thanks for playing :)

Fun little take on a "reflex test"-type game, I think it could be really cool with different videos for different difficulties with different rewind speeds.

I got a G (multiple times) which I didn't even think would be possible. Pretty nice for 3.5 hours!

My best score has been Rank B which was early by 266ms.

Great, especially for a 3 1/2 hour game! It'd be cool to have different videos as z6v said and some sounds. I want to hear the click of the buttons on the vcr!

This is a really weird kind of game. You should at least have given instructions in the game itself so the player does not have to read your 'manual', meaning the description. A game should always be self-explainatory, except if it has a valid reason not to be.
