Reviewer Notes:

Conquering the world will likely take you more than an hour, and the end game will get tedious. Don't feel compelled to see it to victory (also, I forgot to actually test the victory screen during the compo, so it's really ugly). If you really want to play a digital board game for an hour, try the post-compo version instead - it adds a lot to the game.

To be clear, this is not based on a pre-existing board game. The art and game design was all created solo during the Compo.

I think I will play this game later on so I will save it. So its that good. I am struggled about what to rate graphics. I would turn graphic rating off if I were you.

Nice entry - I love Risk, and Dicewars. This is a great addition! Would love some sounds as feedback, and a small manual for the first steps.

Really simple, but really engaging! Great design work for 48 hours. I wonder how it would play out with real people. The graphics are nice too, perfect for a virtual board game.

I'm confused why @mutfak-studios said about the graphics, I think they're beautiful.

This game plays *just like Risk* in that I lost *9 out of 10* of my dice rolls!

I played until I managed to defeat one neighbor (well, mostly someone else defeated them and I swooped in to take his castle, but that's how it goes!), might have to check out the post-comp version and play it more later =)

There seems to be a bug (both in the Compo version and the Post- which I'm trying now), where the Move Army card can only move from regions with 2 or more troops (expected) but can also only move *too* regions with 2 or more troops, any my frontline often has just 1 after a bare victory =).

This is an amazingly well done card/board game in such a short amount of time. Country names were a little small/hard to read. When I first played, I wasn't sure who I was, I thought the red card boarders indicated I was the red player... turned out not.

I played quite a few turns, but it's a long way to go to win... :)

And... I just finished the post-compo version... almost died in the first quarter, but pulled through! Was a lot of fun. Ran it under CheatEngine so I could bump the speed up to 4x while waiting for all of the Auto-resolve combats each turn. Would be great to just have a button that pops up the summary "You: -1 Soldier, them: -2 Archers".

It plays slow but it's rather detailed.
More intuitive UI would help, but it's good nonetheless.
Well done and good luck.

It took me a while to get a hang of it. I didn't even understand who was I and was about to give up on round 1, so more obvious UI on showing where you can do stuff with your cards. The game kind of felt like RISK to me but with the -1 +1 things. And I didn't really understand them. -1 what? Die? Dots on die? Did -1 defending mean you get negative effects when you are defending? It would have been nice to know exactly what unit type combos gave what effects when selecting attack units too.

When I got attacked it would have been nice to first see some effect on a map and then get into the dice rolls. I had to guess where the attack was coming from.

It did get me quite hooked though and I played for quite some time. Maybe for LD the board could have been a bit smaller to make the game shorted (also fit the theme that way) to give player a reasonable chance to complete it in a handful of minutes.

This isn't really my type of game, but it's definitely very well made. The visuals look nice and help to create a board game feel. The UI seems relatively intuitive too. It can be pretty infuriating when you perfectly plan an attack with a high number of troops of the right type, then end up getting stomped because of unlucky dice rolls. I guess that's just the nature of these sorts of games, though.
