Calorie Killers by big-cow
Fight off hoards of burgers before you grow so large that you run out of space!
WASD to move, mouse to aim and shoot. Hold mouse down for rapid fire.
Designed, animated and developed by Daniel Black, audio and enemy concept art by Robert Shaffer.
I'm new to Game Maker so used this as a learning project, expanding on the DnD tutorial code to add features, mechanics and art for the game jam theme.

Nice sound design ^^
I only hope you didn't recorded it yourself
But our game is better)))
Overall very enjoyable little game. Had so much fun playing it! Well done!
I also noticed that you fire less responsively as you get bigger and I'm not sure if this is intentional, since it seems like you can fire at the same rate once you click and hold again. The burgers also seem to be killable by just touching them with the end of the ketchup bottle if you click and hold and swing the bottle back and forth in front of them. Because of that, I have to wonder if maybe invisible, short-range bullets are being fired?
The graphics were pretty goofy and made sense for the humourous concept, along with the sound effects. The chiptune music was suitable and good. Overall, the game is pretty amusing.
@leeloo @random-storykeeper once you get to a certain size your bullets end up hitting enemies instantly a lot of the time, meaning that the instance is destroyed before it's even visible, and there's no visual feedback that you've fired a bullet at all. If I spent more time on it I'd make visible feedback for when you hit an enemy (like a little splat).
Thanks everyone for playing and leaving feedback! :)
Oh and @pinoza it's just one sound that Rob recorded, the pitch is varied through code :)
@awix Thanks for your feedback, Rob (the audio designer) would like more specific feedback on how you would suggest improving the music?
I killed 129000 Calories.
A pity, that you can't evade anymore if you are too fat, but I guess that's the punishment for eating^^
Nice simplistic and solid game, good job.
Well done!
Cheers!
