made by Mr_Field for LD 41 (JAM)

Ho there lads and lassses, come see our fancy shmancy, kind-of-ok-i-guess game, made in just under 72 hours.

With programming and art by Robin Field, and noises for your ears by Billy Hobson; get ready for a few minutes you'll forget by next week.

Heres some screenshots I got quick, for your eyes:

Have a go, tell us what you think, laugh, cry, complain, whatever.

Small disclaimer here: The game camera scrolls up the whole time, so if you play the game for a while your eyes will go funny for a minute- which is cool, depending on how you look at it.

The Controls:

[Z] - Shoot

[X] - Stab

[Arrows] - Move

[Space/esc] - pause

(no fullscreen, sorry)

thanks!

We'd love to hear from you if you manage to beat the game! Feel free to let us know how many times you had to loop around to beat it!

Really nice! It took me a couple loops to realize I needed to buy the hammer and another loop to save up for it, but the wizard soon fell to the man who could not stop, and could not be stopped.

I like it! I mean, I suck at it, but I like it! I'll keep at it and try to get better though, cause I think it's a great idea and is really well done. Both the music and graphics are really awesome. Excellent work you guys!

The game is really fun, the graphics are minimalistic yet really vivid and the animations make it feel more dynamic, really fun little game :D

this is the coolest take on the theme I've seen yet! :D I really like the combination. Music and graphics are all spot on. They set a really nice retro mood. A mood you never wanna get out of :)

A little hard to control as you move forward into the enemy's face when you try to hit them, but otherwise good job.

My favorite game so far - innovative idea that was executed perfectly. There's enough content to keep everything interesting, the environments all felt unique, the boss fight was superb, I liked looping around to be able to grab all the things I missed. The art was great and the audio complemented the art. I truly can't think of anything negative to say about the game aside from the boss lazer sometimes going through the pillars causing me to take damage. A complete game that exceeds my expectations for a jam.

Outstanding entry! Really have to applaud the sound design in this game. It all fits together perfectly and the soundtracks really set the mood. The boss might have been a bit of an arrow sponge, but it was a fun encounter! There is a lot of game here for a LD entry!

Such a great game that handles replay-ability very well. It was really neat exploring the world and then coming back to areas you couldn't access previously. Great work!

Wow, amazing game! Can't really say too much more than that... I hope you take this one the distance. Did you do the MIDI yourself for LD41 or is that a download from somewhere?

Nice game! Solid topdown contra style gameplay and I like that you made different locations with unique enemies. I find it funny that you keep moving even through the shops. Music was catchy and pleasant.

This is a very good game. My first idea for this jam was something very similar to this, but I scraped it because I would not be able to make it look this good. I think some procedural generation would fit this game pretty well and would increase replayability (but would require more content).

Great job.
