Shine is a game where you protect yourself from menacing monsters trying to steal your energy. You can use your energy to produce light, or shoot at the monsters, damaging them. If you eliminate them, you are rewarded with more energy. The game increases in difficulty as you progress. I hope you have fun!Screenshot (55).png

This is a cool concept for a resource management game. The enemies came at a bit too slow a pace in my opinion. Well done!

Damn, they start got a ton of shields and drained me.

Nice concept! But the enemy spawn rates are quite low there is more waiting than gameplay. Changing the rates of spawn would be great!.

@sarwin Yeah, I was pretty bugged about the spawn rates too. My big issue was time. All day yesterday I was at a scholar bowl tournament, and for about 1/3 of the day today, I was trying to fix one really pesky bug. I think I will fix the spawn rates and update the itch page, and I'll be sure to let you know when the changes have been made.

spawn rates are a bit too long, so the game got a bit boring. I think the light mechanic has the potential to be expanded into something more. Otherwise I liked the style and the idea behind the game. Well done for a weekend project!

Nice game, but enemies come to slow and are too easy

Agree with the other comments largely, was good fun but the difficulty curve is too strong, stays very easy right up until wave 5 when it becomes ridiculously hard very fast, player doesn't quite have time to adjust their technique to deal with it

Interesting idea! An issue I ran into is that the text at the bottom was cut off by my window size, and I couldn't resize it to accommodate due to my screen size. Otherwise I had fun playing it!

Bit slow starting which made the overall experience not as fun as it should have been but I enjoyed it.

I like the idea of using your health directly to kill enemies. The idea that if you miss you could die as only a little of that health is given back when killing an enemy. I would like to see this with more challenge as I could see it being really fun.

Just saying, the waves were WAY too boring. An enemy came up every 3 seconds or so, and apart from more health there was no difficulty curve, it was just constantly the same old point 'n' shoot. I actually never used the light because it was useless with how easy the game was.

Neat little game! I think the game would benefit from being a little more fast-paced. My suggestion would be to increase the number of enemies earlier and add fewer shields to make up for it.

The mechanics are interesting and innovative! The key problem is that first several levels are too simple and slow. It is much more fun in higher levels!

I found the progression of the game to be brutally slow, I was worried it wasn't ever going to get challenging; and it never really did until in wave 5 when I got utterly swarmed by 4 shield red balls; I'm not sure if that's an intended death or a bug that spawned a massive amount of enemies. I liked the concept a lot, and while simple thought it was executed well; good job.

Awesome game! I got to Wave 5 and then I died. It was a really intense and fun game to play. Graphics could have used some work. There was no audio from what I could tell, so I don't understand why you asked to be rated in that category. The concept was really cool and fit nicely with the theme. Great job!
