pretty cool block game. it's pretty addicting since i love blocks / tetris games. i like the tension when the walls are closing in on you. thankfully, the bombs are really powerful! it would be great if there was a score or a level counter so you have more sense of achievement. maybe if you get a certain score, the level will increase and the wall speed will increase as well. the movement was a bit sensitive as well. the character is sometimes moving two spaces when i pressed the arrow keys. overall, this is a great game for this LD!

Thanks for the comments and suggestions! No excuses here but I have to admit I didn't notice the score wasn't showing up on the HTML5 version when I did a quick publish.
I will have to fix that with my follow up, post competition bersion!

This is a good game. I'm not a fan of block games other than tetris.

Wow, by far my favorite game I've seen so far. I will admit I almost gave up on it due to my own stupidity of thinking the shift key was the enter key. Anyways. My one piece of criticism has already been said. I think movement was a little difficult because it was too sensitive.

I think it would be cool if it was more tetris like and you could throw different sized and shaped boxes. Maybe different power ups for to compliment bombs?

Also, I don't know how score works because there was a bug where the score didn't display. But deffinetly find a way to track combos and score multipliers and stuff.

Great entry!

You should add a note somewhere about how to rotate the character -- I only figured this out by trial and error.

I like the concept you came up with! It makes good use of the theme and it's an interesting spin on the block/tetris genre.
I'd like to see the move speed dialed down a bit and I also think it would be more intuitive if the player rotated the same direction you're moving rather than having to use spacebar. My game would randomly end on both WebGL and Windows without any blocks touching the defensive zone (not sure if anyone else experienced that). I also found a bug where after you use a bomb you can't stick a block to that side until you use a bomb on a different side.
I think this game has a lot of potential after the jam. I hope you keep working on it!

@Balance686 - great point on the player rotating in same direction you move. As I was play testing I think I got stuck on the separate keys for movement and direction and just didn't think about such a simple "fix" to improve gameplay. Thanks for the bug and other comments!

@pennycook I cannot believe I forgot to add that direction. Sorry about that - I'll add it to the notes above and of course add instruction to future versions. 😳

Really enjoy the feel of launching the blocks. The movements should be less sensitive since its too easy to move 2 spaces instead of one. Not sure if having to shoot and different walls helps or hurts the game. But what I played is a good base to build upon.

this game is rather slow to play so I'm a little bored

Nice line completion game. It took me a few times to figure out that space turns and I read the instructions to find that Enter shoots. Seems like the game ends randomly after I complete about four lines. The controls seem really sensitive, and it seems difficult to move just one square.

@dimesto52 and @levidsmith Thanks for the feedback - I certainly have some areas to improve!

First time it seems a bit confusing but reading the instructions I understood and I really enjoyed the game! Haha, the idea is very interesting. Good job !

Cool little game, it's too bad the graphics are placeholders because without being totally ugly, I find them a bit misleading (hence the necessity to have a legend at first). My biggest complaint is that the movement is way to sensitive and it was impossible for me to move just one square and it caused me more frustration than fun. Correct this, polish some cool effects and you'll have a great game in your hands!

Interesting mechanics. Overall the game is fun to play, but the controls can be improved - When I pressed WASD, it moved too fast so it is hard to control the distance to move. Overall it is creative. Good job!

Neat game! My only complaints are how excruciating it can be to switch from WASD+Control to the mouse right away when it comes to using bombs. And moving around is a bit hard with how sensitive it is. But aside from that, it does fit the theme~

Nice idea; movement was a little too sensitive for me, it was hard to stop exactly where planned. Interesting take on the theme with well thought out mechanics!

Although this game doesn't have very good graphics and is lacking sound, it makes up for it with gameplay. It's a little like playing tetris 4x at once!
